Yes, I'm sure he's much more concerned about the "good of boxing" than the good of his bank accountAlvarez would've taken the fight at 147 for free if he had to right?
I do understand calling Floyd out if he did bash Pacquiao for the Cotto catch weight, but it's the same thing there. Cotto agreed to it, and we have no idea whether it played any role in the fight, it's not an excuse.
You don't think he deserves to be compensated for making the fight? Of course he does. Either way this fight happening is not a 100% given. There is said to be concern from the Alvarez camp about him being able to get down to 152. And word is Mayweather will not go through with the fight unless he makes 152. No matter what. So if this fight doesn't happen the blame clearly falls on Floyd Mayweather
Alvarez agreed to fight at 152, but if he can't make the weight with complete comfort it's all Floyds fault? How is that any different than if the fight were at 154 and Alvarez couldn't make thatIt's really stupid of Saul to have agreed to 152 is all that suggests, he is then to blame for wasting everyone’s time since he knew the deal beforehand. The guy was a welterweight not to long ago, and he's a very young man.
It's Mayweather's fault for making the demand. Why even make the demand? The titles are 154 titles. Not 152. Why are you having a hard time understanding what a pussy move that is?
Alvarez last fought at welterweight over 3 years ago. And yes he is a young man. Which means he's still growing. It's not easy or healthy to drop in weight once you out grew that weight. Mayweather didn't come up at 147 or 154. So he can jump back and forth between divisions. But ask him to make 135 or 140. And I guarantee you it's a problem
Absolutely it's Mayweather's fault for making the demand. It's also his fault that Canelo accepted it. Canelo should be given a pass on this because he's a popular Mexican fighter with a huge following. Why should he be held to an "agreed-upon" weight? It's not fair. It's Mayweather's damn fault. He MADE Canelo agree to 152. Probably secretly held a gun to the kid's head.
Floyd Mayweather could demand Alvarez wear chainmail leggings and still make 152 pounds, if Alvarez agrees to it that's all there is to it! Whoever doesn't meet the contractual obligation is at fault. How is THAT hard to understand?
I don't think it's a "pussy" move, because Mayweather is a much smaller man and the catch weight makes sense. I do tend agree that Alvarez' belts shouldn't be on the line however, but that's a different argument and the integrity of the alphabet gangs are to blame for that.
I wouldn't have a problem with the catchweight if he had never fought at 154 before. But he has. One fight ago. Not only that but he had no problem preaching to anybody that would listen that he was only doing it cuz he wanted to face Cotto at his best and blah, blah, blah. What's the goal now? Face Alvarez at his worst? I mean come on. Lets call it what it is. A pussy move. I don't dislike Mayweather. Never have. I defended him plenty of times. One only needs to look at the Mayweather-Pacquiao and Mayweather-Hatton threads and see for themselves. But I'm not gonna ignore or make lame excuses for him when he's clearly in the wrong. It doesn't work that way. At least for me it doesn't.
