Was the mother not the woman who was looking after the kid after he got splattered and then some other relative came over and chinned the skateboarder? I think that worked out about right.

That's a tough one.
The skateboarder should be more aware in a public place of smashing into people, however, considering he was apologising for an accident, he didn't deserve to get chinned, if he retaliated by putting the skateboard over her head I'd have been OK with that.
