I think everyone must get sore hands. I know I do wearing 12'once gloves on a heavy bag. After 6 rounds of that my hands can be tender for a few days. Even with improving technique and a tight grip, you get sore. I imagine it must be a nightmare for some fighters having to get through entire camps and fights with hands, continuously being bashed. As a result I use my heavy bag only about twice a week as the hands really need time to get over the attack.

Fighters have always had problems with their hands; they were designed to be mobile, useful gripping tool, not bludgeons. Made up of a bunch of small bones, when repeatedly bashed into a great big bone (the other guy's skull), they'll hurt.
You can wrap them, but if you wrap them too much, can't close them right and that hurts too. You can do it all properly, throw a punch and the other guy ducks- not wanting to get hit, they are prone to do that, and to take other evasive action- and you bounce the small knuckle of your hand off his head and now you have a recurring problem.
Genaro Hernandez had problems with his hands based on his size; 5'11" tall, he made 126 very easily. So he was obviously very light-boned and his knuckles were very prominent. He also hit very hard, and this hurt his hands, lots of troubles with them. If you watch him fight, he'd go after an opponent for 3-4 rounds, hurt his hands and then pick his shots.

Floyd has problems and so did the great Jeff Fenech.
