I don't know why people get surprised when big name fighters (especially a guy just coming off the biggest payday of his career vs Mayweather) don't want to take high risk/low reward fights.

If I told you I'd give you A) $20,000 to jog 5 miles through Danbury, Connecticut, or B) $14,000 to jog 10 miles through the worst slums of Brooklyn, which option would you choose?

Unfortunately for Thurman, the risk involved in fighting him far outweights the small rewards you'd get for fighting and beating him.

Guerrero can bank into a better match, especially if a Floyd whips Alvarez, right now. Even in a lesser build up fight where he can establish. Thurman has only now just opened the door in a showcase fight and frankly Guerrero can do better at this point in time I would think. Man, it's boxing! I have been hooked so many times I feel like a fish. Besides, Floyd talks so much trash these guys have to have to respond or look like idiots when Floyd buries them under a mountain of trash talk.

Guererro might be getting a case of Bradleyitis. He needs to fight who his promoter wants him to fight and not start turning guys down because he's waiting for impossible fights like Marquez or a Floyd rematch. GBP have a bunch of welters and they're all fighting each other and producing great fights so he just needs to get on with it. Go and beat Thurman and earn your way into another big fight.

I don't think he has as much to gain by beating Thurman as a lot of you think. Thurman is a prospect, which means one big win and he's a big player, and one big loss and it's "ohh he was overrated, untested, flawed, I knew he sucked, ect ect" and he's worthless.

If Thurman beats the shit out of the Ghost, he's a serious guy who can demand serious fights. If Guerrero fights and beats Thurman, so what? Thurman is just another prospect who failed when he stepped up to solid competition.

Thurman has everything to gain in that kind of fight. It's a big gamble for short money for Guerrero.
