Default RJJ Speaks on NY Radio

I was listening to an afternoon radio show and RJJ called in. He was calling to promote his sons rap group or something like that but the boxing question inevitably was asked. He said he planned to fight again in November, a tuneup against somebody whose name I can't remember (not a well known opponent I don't think). He said next year early somtime he was looking at fighting Joe Calzhage. He said Calzhage looked real impressive against Lacy and he looks real tough on tv but he wants to see for himself in person. (He didn't say but I assume it would be at lightheavy or some catch weight). What do you guys think. Is Roy just blowing smoke or is he for real and what do you think his chances are. I'll reserve comment on his chances, but I actually think he's for real about wanting Calzhage since "people' not me but people think his legacy was tainted by his fights with Tarver and the Johnson loss, and a big win against Calzhage could help cement his legacy.

As past it as I think RJJ I could still see him beating Calzaghe.

    Stylisticly atleast.

I could also see Calzaghe smothering him and stopping him pretty quickly, depends on the weight really.

This discussion for me is a stalemate....I think Roy is serious about fighting Joe, I believe that Roy will meet the winner of the Woods vs Johnson and if he wins this fight then I think his Last fight will be against Calzaghe... I think Joe will Fight the winner of Kessler vs Beyer then Fight Jones

Probably late 2007, to me this is a pick em fight it will be the tale of 2 Roys and which one shows up

If Jones fights the winner of Johnson/ Woods which will be Johnson he's gonna get f*cked up again & won't get the opportunity to get f*cked up by Calzaghe. Jones should quit while he's ahead he has nothing left to prove. For a period there of about 10 years he was untouchable, sadly that's all over now.

Well considerin Roy nearly killed Woods the first time they met, I thnk he could still handle him. Johnson would be really really tough for him though. I also think he could beat Calzaghe, whom would be the easiest of the three, don't see how you guys think Calzaghe who's never been a big puncher at 168 is gonna stop 175 lb Jones. But whatever. Hopefully Jones will fight a guy a little better than Badi Ajamu and get his confidence and skills back up to par a little more.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Roy's been talking a lot recently. In the last two interviews I read with him, he said (a) he wants Glenn Johnson most, (b) if he fights Calzaghe, it'll be at 168, and (c) he might consider going back up to HW to fight for another belt there.
