Beltran was mugged , I thought he'd give Burns big problems and he did. He scored a knockdown but still people score the fight a draw?
I gave Burns 4 rounds last night at most, he should do a rematch but I cant see it and think Beltran would win it by stoppage too ;-)

I have to agree if Beltran couldn't get a guy focused on merely protecting a broken jaw out of there in ten rounds then I don't see him walking it in a rematch. Burns is a much better fighter than he was last night and revisionist calls suggesting that he was overrated are ignoring great performances against Moses, Katsidis and Mitchell. The one unequivocal thing we learnt last night was that incompetent/corrupt Judging is not the reserve of Texas and Germany and Jocks are way harder, and much less likely to quit than Mexican Americans.![]()
I thought Beltran was a class act in the post fight interview in his dressing room. Obviously he was gutted but he called it exactly how it was, Not Burns' fault but clearly politics, money & promoter power kept Ricky his belt.
Not making excuses for Ricky as I was gutted for Beltran, but here's an X-ray of his broken jaw. Big props to Burns for continuing with that, total clean break which must've been agony

I concur, Beltran was a class act and you have to feel gutted for him. Burns showed a lot of bottle though to fight ten rounds in that amount of pain. I remember his trainer Billy Nelson giving him grief saying "stop moaning, you are a champion and you only have to fight for 6 more minutes" or something like that
Here is a bigger pic of Ricky's X-Ray.

So a Brit got a decision big deal, hell what made me laugh a yank gives Burns the nod, honest
you may have to take it up with your Country Men,like most of us YES a injustice but
us boxing fans WILL get over it.!
Burns is courageous, but courageous men lose fights too. He lost last night. Hearns should make the rematch. In any event, Beltran should move up in the rankings for that performance.
How is 115-112 or 114-113 a not close fight. Most people scored it 115-112 from what I see.
check my fightscorecollector site, link in the signature....44 press scores with an average score which was 115-112 beltran
burns was rubbish from the off
i'm not even sure the broken jaw came in the second, I didn't see anything till after the knockdown
from his last 2 performances its looking like he is past his peak
I thought jim watts scoring was very favourable towards burns and he had it beltram by 2 or 3
Officially the only saddo who has had a girlfriend
