Broner could be up there I suppose, although his opposition in Rees and Paulie wasn't great.
If Garcia wins, then I'd probably give it to him.

I am not a fan of Floyd but I am a fan of his Ring IQ. If he takes Canelo are we obliged to give Floyd the nod? I fear that may be the case. If Lucas takes out Garcia I can see giving Lucas a big vote.
If GGG had some better competition although Macklin ain't no joke I could see GGG getting a number of votes. I get the info that fighters are ducking GGG from this forum. Hearing it from you guys I take it as fact but exactly who is dodging him.
I feel if Danny beats Lucas Danny should get it hands down. That's a big if but it was this year that Danny started touching the stars and he will really prove something slaying the beast they call Lucas. It would be nice to see also because Danny seems like a decent humble guy. Many here said he would make all kinds of excuses as he was shitting bricks out of fear. He seems to be taking it in stride and confidence. Sometimes Danny's disposition is hidden under his father's bullshit. It's fun having an idiot ranting at times but other times he unnecessarily steals the spot light.
I also think this year will be the foundation for the return of Manny. Hopefully he will make his win over Rios look good. He will probably have another fight or two and then he KTFO your boy Floyd.

At this point, if Matthysse knocks out Garcia, he's at the top of the list because he will have wins over two of the top 4 guys in his division at that point. Garcia can't claim the same because Judah isn't equivalent to Peterson in my eyes, and Garcia didn't dominate Judah.
If Rigo came back against another good competitor, he has to be at the top of the list. Out of everyone, he earned a win against the best competition. But, one win doesn't earn you the nod. He needs to get back in the ring.
I don't rate the Mayweather win over Guerrero as anything very special. A win over Canelo is better but it isn't ground breaking.
If Golovkin knocks Stevens out, he's by far the most active of the bunch and Stevens, Macklin and Rosado are good wins. I'm not sure that his activity over good, but not great fighters, trumps Matthysse's wins (if so) over Garcia and Peterson.
Kovalev's win over Cleverly was also solid, but he would need another win over a top ten guy to be in the picture with the other guys mentioned.
Bottom line is that there is too much left of the year to speculate.
Agreed, there is still time for any of these guys to fight twice more before the year is up as well. Obviously Floyd won't and I agree he probably shouldn't get it in any case, but given his profile it's likely if he beats Canelo soundly. Whoever wins between Garcia and Matthyse is probably the right choice more I think about it, they have both had huge years and just the fact this fight is happening is terrific.

Froch would have had a decent year when he beats Groves.

Rigo/Donaire for me ..I would say GGG but they have not been fights ..just a beating.
I'm sure over the next couple of months they could well be topped though.
edit:
Martin Murray's win against Sergio Martinez (does that count?)
