I been high on matthyse for a few years the peterson fight has nothing to do with it, and never described him as a monster myself, so yeah i'd still think he's a bad man. I just think lucas credentials are a bit better and has had the better preparation thru his fights for this. but these are all opinions right now and maybe ill be shocked Saturday and danny kos lucas but I just don't see it happening.
The reason I'm picking Lucas is simply because I haven' t seen Garcia really outbox anyone aside of Judah maybe and..well Judah wasn't never a pure boxer as much as he was a fast guy who threw hard punches.
So in essence you have a power puncher who's patient against a slightly less powerful puncher who's more active and goes off balance less often. I can see a case for both fighters winning however Danny does not have sublime defense and well remember how Sweete Pete said he doesn't care of god throws punch because he can duck it? Lucas isn't god but my god you don't want to have his punches testing your chin.
My pick: Lucas Mathysse.

I honestly see Matthysse as a more complete package than Garcia and I think he will be suprised by his ability to box and invest to the body. Anyone thinking Lucas is just a bomb chucking clod needing or thirsting for a ko is reading more into a Peterson clubbing than the ones they accuse of doing so. Matthysse is an accumulative and strengthing fighter as a fight goes and Garcia, too me, looked rattled, stuck between styles and faded down the stretch vs Judah. Danny is very very live and fast of hand and both are riding huge momentum but both can also be hit. Of the two, I really think Garcia will land and runs a massive risk of then over commiting and not staying in the tight right package he'll need to as he attacks. Rinse -repeat or box off and let Mattysse feel some sting and use his legs up following. Matthysse lays his bricks a couple at a time, to body and head equally and he has the confidence of a guy not trying to light the fire before he sees smoke. All bs aside, I like Garcia and have said he's a breath of fresh air for the sport but I think Matthysse actually out thinks him and eventually grinds him down for a late win.

Not as much of a monster. That's for sure. Peterson was coming off a big TKO win over Kendall Holt and Matthysse walked right through him.
Funny thing is that Peterson hasn't fought since and it's been more than six months and still no speculation about his next fight. He still has the belt too. It appears at least on first glance that Matthysse might have ruined Peterson's career.
The Peterson win is better than any win on Garcia's ledger too.
Is Garcia good enough to smother Matthysse's power or stay out of range of it? I think that might be difference in this fight.
In any event, gentlemen, this is going to be a first rate scrap that we're all looking forward to. May the best man win.
