Manny needs Floyd more than Floyd needs Manny.
Despite Mannys recent KO I still think a Manny v Floyd fight would still be a good watch. I mean look at the Floyd fights we have been watching as of late. Of course if Manny were to lose to Rios than Manny is done but Manny has been fighting since he was Twelve I just don't think a knockout will finish Manny. Not saying he would definitely beat Floyd but it would have to be better than these fights we have seen. It's the only match up that I would PPV, I'm tired of paying money to see the same old same old.

If the fight had happened in 2009 it would of presented the biggest test of Floyds career and IF he had won it, we would be talking about him being the greatest pound for pound boxer of all time. But even if the bout happens now it wont prove anything, both fighters are past their peak, Manny by quite some way too. It would just be another cash cow for Floyd to milk.

really bro?!Manny has on paper lost 2 in a row, in reality should be 1-2 in his last 3 fights the most recent being him getting KTFO by Marquez, Mayweather still undefeated and just beat up the guy considered the man at 154 theres a reason why Manny is taking on Rios who's coming off of a loss and is moving up in weight to face Pacquiao, just last year Manny was saying "Brandon Rios? Whose that?"
Manny needs to win big against Rios and dominantly if he even wants to make any type of claim to face Floyd now

Sure... let's wait for Manny-Rios, but why are so many people dead set against Floyd-Manny? Granted, it doesn't have the appeal of a few years ago. But it's not like there's a conga line of fighters lined up outside Floyd's door with the credentials to fight him. Look at the big hype for Canelo... and the inevitable results. If Canelo "deserved" a shot at Mayweather (he really didn't), surely Manny Pacquiao does also.

I never felt Canelo deserved a shot, but credit to Mayweather cause it is the fight that a lot of fight fans and writers were calling for now and he delivered, but my beef is that Manny was the one holding up the fight to begin with, he's the one that has slipped, he's the one who wants the fight now, so he should have to work up to getting it and show Mayweather a reason to pick it up, Manny NEEDS to beat Rios impressively if he wants to continue his career as a top fighter

All good points. Manny's stock has fallen, to be sure. He does need an impressive victory over Rios to get back in Floyd-Manny conversations. It's the part about fight fans and writers clamoring for a Floyd-Canelo fight. All that does is point out the fact that boxing can be 90% hype... 10% earned credentials. Canelo was a TV hype job... clear and simple. The good looking, red-haired Mexican boy with looming soap opera contracts and a huge female fan base. The second coming of Oscar. You yourself know his bloated record was filled with bums and washed-up fighters. All Floyd did was say, "Ok... I'll whip this guy's ass, and if that's who they think is going to take my "0", I'll be glad to play along with the hype." Manny's stock is down... but he's had a stellar career already. Canelo was rushed into a mega-fight without the goods..... OR the resume. It's JCC Jr. all over again. All hype... and then gets schooled when he finally gets gifted a shot at the big time.
The thing is, its a lose lose situation for Floyd.
Even if he wins people will say Pac was washed up and Floyd waited until he was faded on purpose etc etc.
And even 50 years from now when people look back at the records it will show Floyd fighting someone who lost back to back fights, was old and still some how got a shot at the undefeated P4P king. So it will not even look like a good win to them.
With all that being said the fight still needs to happen lol and the sooner the better.
to be quite honest pal i dont think either of them need the other
both are multi millionaires and manny beats rios he could get a multi million pound fight again straight after
and if he won that another and/or another marquez fight for lots of bish
in fact id say manny doesnt need floyd at all, a one sided beating would end his pulling power
Officially the only saddo who has had a girlfriend
I can't understand why people here are actually against this fight happening. It is bound to be better than the piece of shit fights we have seen with Floyd lately. Which I mean the competition.
This is THEE only fight out there that folks can consider a test for Floyd... let's look at the possibilities, at Welter up to Middle:
1. Tim Bradley- Floyd probably embarrasses him
2. Amir Khan- Floyd probably embarrasses him
3. Danny Garcia- Floyd wins easily
4. Sergio Martinez- Martinez has already said he will NOT fight at a catch-weight below his current Middleweight limit
5. GGG- While it would be entertaining, and certainly not a cake walk like Canelo was, GGG is a Middleweight and Floyd may not want that. But, if it happens, it will be a boring fight because Floyd would be FORCED to run all night long and probably win an unfair decision, due to lack of activity in the fight.
6. Devon Alexander- Floyd wins an easy UD.
There are no other fights out there that anyone of us would CONSIDER a decent test for Floyd other than Manny and GGG, with the latter probably not happening, ever.
But, alas, Floyd's last 4 fights will most likely end up with (in the order I think it will happen if all else goes to plan):
1. Devon Alexander
2. Amir Khan
3. Tim Bradley
4. Sergio Martinez
Garcia probably doesn't enter into the mix, unless the offer him a shitload of money- he wouldn't want the loss. Because, what would it do for him when he AND we all know he can't possibly beat Floyd.
A good fight for the Garcia camp to probably make happen and drumbeat heavily for it would be against either Devon Alexander or Adrien Broner- with the possibly Broner fight a HUGE PPV payday for both of them.
In fact, a Garcia/Broner fight is just what the sport needs right now after what we witnessed with Floyd's destruction of Canelo. Something with some action and merit to it.
Bigger man George, bigger punch!
