What's next for Mayweather?

What should Mayweather do next? Should he fight Garcia at @147? Move up to MW and fight Martinez? Maybe defend his title against the winner of Trout/Lara (If that fight ever happens)?

My guess is either Garcia or Bradley. I would lean towards Garcia as Bradley (I believe) is an Arum fighter.

Cant see floyd fighting a top rank fighter so itsalexander if he beats khan or garcia.

If I was advising Floyd, Id have him face Sergio Martinez. He would get alot of credit for beating a bigger, MW champ..

Even though MArtinez is a MW, I just dont think his size is an advantage against Floyd. He's a fleet footed boxer and not somebody who imposes his size on an opponent so this would turn into a chessmatch.

Floyd would beat him fairly easily imo. Sergio will not be as mobile after those two surgeries and his style of fighting with his hands down will cost him against somebody like floyd.

I would love it to be Martinez for the MW title. It's an opportunity to become the 2nd man to hold 3 titles in 3 weight classes at the same time. It would be an amazing achievement. Probably not the most realistic option though as Mayweather can't even get up to 154 effectively so it's more likely to be Garcia or Khan/Alexander. Khan would probably be the preferred opponent because he's more known and Alexander couldn't draw flies to shit, but a convincing Alexander win against Khan could change that and make him a bit more viable.

This was the list I posted on a thread earlier in the year:

1. Sergio Martinez - If Martinez could shrink down to 154lbs, this would be a legacy defining matchup for Mayweather. Mayweather would easily school the aged Argentine wonder, Sergio's body is worn out and he is no where near as fast or skilled as Floyd...I think Mayweather knocks him down several times enroute to a stoppage. The first time Martinez puts his hands down to try to show boat he's going to get cracked, altough its not likely to happen I would love to see this.

2. Canelo Alvarez - He will need his legs in this one, so I think he needs to do it as soon as possble to avoid getting any more wear before facing the younger, stronger, fresher man. The Floyd that just beat Guerrero would make Canelo look just as Amatuerish.

2. Danny Garcia - Facing the smaller fighter will give him a break after facing Canelo. Danny is strong and has a great skill set but he's not on the same planet as Floyd and would get outboxed the entire night.

3. Mattheyse/Peterson winner - Regardless of who wins this one, the winner will be a very tough fight for Mayweather. Both fighters come to bang and are extrmely tough. Mattheyse being the small man will be the easier picking for Floyd and althogh Peterson is taller he fights in a slouched over stance and would give away his height advantage.

5. Adrien Broner - If this were to ever happen it would be a changing of the guard fight. Broner at this point would be peaking physically and Floyd would be way old to hold this guys back. Mayweather would probably ask for a piece of all of Adrien's future PPV winnings.

This was obviously before the Petersen/Matthysee, Matthysee/Garcia fight, and Alvarez/Mayweather fights. So going forward from here is my list...in a dream world:

1.Sergio Martinez - At this point I don't think the weight issue would be an issue for Floyd. Let Sergio go in at 160 and Floyd will be at 150 and then maybe throw in a rehydration clause. Easy night for Floyd.

2. Devon Alexander/Amir Khan - Lets see how Floyd deals with speed and legs. He'll also need a breather.

3. Danny Garcia - Give Danny another big PPV card to fight under and by then he'll have enough of a fan base and exposure to make it more attractive fight.

4. Adrian Broner - Perfect way to end the bromance and show Broner who the real Mr. HBO will always be.

Bonus - Floyd gets "lured" in for 50-0 run by facing the greatest of rival of his time Manny Pacquiao...then knocks him out and calls it a career.

The only person I wouldn't want Floyd to lose to is Broner. If the crown goes from Floyd to Broner I'm gonna start going to bingo for my sports fix.
