Delvin Rodriguez is light years away from Cotto in terms of skills but for some reason I feel that he is going to give Cotto a hell of a night and is a very very live underdog if an underdog at all.
Does Cotto pull this off?

The key is Self-discipline.
Cotto has claimed he's had his best camp ever for this fight and Roach has been very happy with his progress so far. He's bang on the weight now near enough and he's in great shape for the fight. Roach says he wants him fighting at 147 again and thinks he could easily make the weight and he believes Cotto should stay away from 160.
delvin rodgriguez sucks. he had good fights against pavel wolak and thats it.
cotto will wreck him over 12 rounds.
Cotto's pretty shop worn, and clearly his best days are behind him. On the other hand, Freddie Roach can do wonders for him in training camp, since Cotto in general is very disciplined, and appears to be a fast learner (look how Pedro Diaz was able to alter his style for the Margarito rematch). Cotto should beat Delvin handily, but I'm not sure how much he (Cotto) has left.
Hmmm I think Cotto's musical chairs act with trainers has taken a couple of years off his career. I think behind the scenes he is a very difficult fighter to work with. I'm not sure what Roach can do at this point for him and find myself puzzled as to why he shifted Diaz and went to Roach. Roach is a punchers trainer. Punch output is not a problem for Cotto or hook delivery. His D is and Diaz as you point out was really tidying up some of Cotto's issues.
I'm not a fan of guys bouncing around divisions and I wouldn't want to see him back at 147. With Rodriquezs slow starts and wide delivery Cotto should really do an inside numbers on him and while honestly in style and push it may not be staggering it will put him in the position of having multiple options the way everyone is in play at that 147-154 range. Safe bet back to the match up though, bring an extra cut man.
Its a crucial fight to Miguel Cotto however picking a no-name Delvin Rodriguez will not put him to the front list again.
Hoping for an exciting match so far.
I'm not sure Rodriguez is even good enough to beg the question, either that or it's all he will manage to do in this fight. On paper it's a bounce back fight for Cotto no question, only way he's in tough is if he really is finished. Wish he hadn't taken so much time off after the Trout loss to, he didn't take a lot of punishment in it but looked totally flat.
Roach seems to think that Cotto should move back to 147 after this fight. I think that's a good idea, but, of course, he might be too shopworn to be successful at the elite level any longer.
Cotto's last hurrah was the Floyd fight. He seemed physically, mentally, and tactically up for that fight. Not sure how much he has left in the tank.
Cotto should easily win and this fight is to get a victory for Cotto since his back to back defeats. Cotto should stay at light middle and win a trinket and then make a big money fight with Canelo.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Schaefer said he would rematch Mayweather - Cotto
