I think both. Lucky that he had a chance to win the belt from McCall, and lucky that McCall didn't show much fire in that fight. Bruno was a beast of a man and a very good boxer, but as you say he was an 8 round fighter and you can't be a world champion long with that kind of limitation. People only saw his losses because that's what all of his big fights wound up being I'd imagine McCall was the only man he ever beat who he wasn't heavily favoured to.

you could be a world champ now being an peak for 8 round fighter

he goes in with povetkin, wins the first 8 (which is very possible) stays on his feet, world champ

mccall was top form, bruno battered him for 8, lost the last 3 of the last 4

all his big fights werent losses

you are being very negative today arent you?

Not really you can't. He could have absolutely beaten Povetkin though, perhaps even stopped him before 8. I think he'd have every chance to beat most HW's today in fact, but very little against either Klitschko. What's a big fight he won? Don't see how I was being negative any more than usual

Bruno had alot of muscle and was very robotic and took alot of punishment..but how far do you think he would have went if he didnt fight tyson for the second time?
You could tell how serious and confident Bruno was about avenging his defeat with that deer in the headlights look he had walking to the ring. Never seen a champion cross himself so much

If Bruno had been bought up in an American gym he could have been alot better.

He was good but not great. He didnt seem to know how to deal with adversity. If hed had better fighters to spar with as an amteur and coming through the pros hed have learnt better head movement, not to be so stiff and tense, load up on all his shots and tire himself out.

He didnt have a bad chin, it just wasnt too hard to find and unfortunately he fought some huge punchers like Tyson, Lewis, Witherspoon and Smith who managed to find his chin as he tired and slowed down in the bouts.

If Bruno had the right political connections that Tyson had from King then Frank could have made a routine defence against Tucker, unified the title from Seldon and possibly fought Hipp and made some more money. Foreman would probably have been too afraid to fight Bruno, and Frank would have had to avoid Lewis and Holyfield for as long as possible because he would have been beaten by them anyway.

At his best I agree, though I don't know how good Tucker still was at that point. What's for sure is that Bruno had no course of action that would allow him to remain champion while making as much money as he did against Tyson, and given he retired after that fight he probably didn't have the desire to find out.

I think Bruno injured his eye and was forced to retire although I am not entirely sure Eric will know.

He also knows what color boxers he wears and the type of toilet paper he uses to wipe his ass.
