first time I sparred after switching from martial arts I nearly kneed some fucker in the face get them to spar with hands only. Forget 'running', run sprints it suits the demands of the fight better

Seriously though, assuming this guy is a match for you physically, if you're doing Muay thai and he just trains with his hands, you'll be hard pressed to win. You'd be better off just training on your own to box than doing the thai stuff simply because it's a habit.
