Love this fight. Lara deserves a title shot, dude has fought all the guys you don't want to fight and gotten none of the guys you want to fight. Winner should get their title shot immediately.
Part of that was Trout seeing how unfairly it was being scored. He didn't have a chance. Canelo was being groomed for the Floyd fight and the powers that be anointed him the winner before the fight.

He had a chance. And did nothing about it. The scores showed him he was behind. So there was uncertainty. He needed a knock out to win. And never went for it. That's his fault. No one else's.

I don't even wanna hear how Trout isn't a knock out puncher or anything like that. Pernell Whitaker was less of a knock out puncher than Trout. Didn't stop him from trying it (and getting it) in the 11th round against Diobleys Hurtado. He was losing the fight and that was what was needed to get the win. And he did it. Trout never even tried to do it

    I scored it a draw and I don't think that's unrealistic

I can see the draw if I tried hard enough. But that's besides the point. I just don't understand how some people say that knowing the scores some how hurt Trout. How? If anything they should of helped him. The scores showed him exactly what he needed to do to win. The fact that he didn't do it isn't the problem. That's understandable. The problem is he never even tried

Coin flip on what this turns into, a reluctant waltz or a nice contest of accurate punching and counters. I think Lara has a new chip on his shoulder and won't stay content to watch his work. Trout is a good dude and a great story, solid skills but off the Rodriquez and Alvarez fights I just don't see the mentality it'll take to put enough up close shots to equal hurt on Lara.

I think it hurt him because he knew he couldn't do his thing and settle into a boxing match. So he tried to lead and use volume.

But it's beside the point because he simply didn't do enough. Open scoring, normal scoring, whatever, he didn't win and he didn't deserve to win. The rest is just excuses.

this is a good fight that is made but im surprised people think it will be exciting. im sure it will be pretty boring. i cant see it being exciting at all. neither guy comes forward and they will both try to counter punch. i have a feeling that the fight will be a very slow pace with lara coming out with the victory.

Guess I'm mister to the contrary tonight. Not one person in this thread has said the fight will be exciting. It's totally different to say you are excited. You could be excited by the matchup, the skill on display, the competitive matchup, etcetera. One person did say it should be an awesome fight but again it could be awesome for various reasons and not necessarily because it is by standard acceptance exciting..
Sorry about being such a stickler about a statement so benign but my old board drifted farther and farther into interpretations of what was said until everything became complete BS. One of the things I've appreciated in my short time here is I haven't seen too many statements taken out of context or twisted into something completely different. Much respect to this board for that.

I'm leaning towards Trout but it is one of those fights that could go either way. Great matchmaking IMO. Props to Golden Boy as they're really making all the quality fights at 154 these days.

    You are 100% correct.

Open scoring gets one boxer super defensive if he's ahead and forces the other to become more aggressive than he normally is. It is an unfair advantage especially considering how wide open some of the scores were. Also considering Trout is more of a boxer and..well lets just say it really did have a big effect on the outcome of the fight.
