I don't think those were all that bad. Mistakes are made. Its not an exact science. Lets not forget that there were refs back then who also counted to 10 when a guy was knocked out cold. He may not be as good as his dad but he is a hall of fame ref.

Mercante Jr. has had way too many bad calls... no other ref is as bad at making calls as him.

What's with the Mercante Jr. hate? I don't think I ever seen panic and stop a fight early like Jay Nady. Or look like he just doesn't know what the fuck to do, blowing calls left and right like Joe Cortez. He did an outstanding job on Miguel Cotto-Yuri Foreman as well as Cotto's fight against Zab Judah.
