I think it's bullshit. He either made up this story or exaggerated some event to sell the book...

one thing for sure - he does want some attention

Perhaps its easier for him this way.
Rather than saying he had a gay moment, its easier to call it abuse or that he ran away from a bullying situation.

Cant knock what leonard achieved in the ring, but i doubt thats the only ring he played with.
