How do I build punching power?
How do I build punching power?
train your technique.
We have an old man at the gym, he's 76yrs old. Without any effort he's trowing punches at our pro-fighters and they are all very carefull not to get hit by him..... his punches come down hard.... very hard. And no, he doesn't have the stamina anymore, neither does he train weights or anything. He just as a perfect technique. Using his hip and shoulder exaclty how it has to be done and BAM! without using power or anything.
You can also throw powerpunches offcourse with muscle, and yes, muscle helps, but you can't keep giving them throughout a whole fight. You'll never get the stamina for that. You will though if you have enough technique to back you up.
good luck!
Killer you got it in one cc

Just lucky to have joined a good gym
Your Freeken Ausome Couldnt Of Said It Better
speed is power in boxing.....the more relaxed you are and with proper technique your punches will be deadly....i can throw punches at my fighters with no effort and still do damage(which is why I use 20-24oz gloves)...proper relaxed punches will do the most damage.....Originally Posted by rvk1331

i think you get two type of power punchers.
The first is the natural one, who has very heavy hands. they dont really need to put too much effort in to hitting hard. You either have heavy hands or you dont.
the other powerpuncher is the one with technique. basically what killerqueen said
the best way to throw a harder punch is to take something off it. think about it. This relates to much of what has been said by bigragu and kqueen. (oh shit, I sound like scrap!)

"Since velocity = feet per sec, that means the longer the range the less velocity."
as a scientist myself I can say, WRONG. Velocity is the rate of change, and in this case that is constant over the given distance. In fact, velocity will be less at the start of a punch because of the acceleration factor.
Just one problem their Von with that eqaution thats thought.
