He wasnt in full training and took the offer of a fight on the sho at one days notice which is probably why he paced himself when as a tv viewer we only got to see the last 2 rounds of the 6 roumder and the commentators mentioned that he had Borg hurt esrlir but wouldnt go in for the finish. Davies told him after the 5 th not to leave it in the hand of the judges.
He actually said he didnt want to take it but had to because hed only had 2 fights this year and blamed his promoter (Hennesey) Degale did the same, saying if Hennesey couldnt deliver the Periban fight hes leaving. I actually warmed a bit to Degale last night. I only again saw the last 2 rounds of his fight but he tries to put different punches together, has a good variety, didnt look knackered like he has done and I saw him take a couple of flush shots and have previously as well so reckon he has a good chin.
Eubank gets stick for not getting the knockouts but thats his 3 rd stoppage on the trott now and he now has a higher ko percentage than his dad didat the same amount of fights.
Iv said before that when he first started he was very tense and as his career moves forward he will relax a bit and loosen up and the ko's will come. Now is the time he needs to move up to British level. He already has vast experience in world class gyms sparring world class fighters and listening to world class trainers. Maybe they need to get him on some american or european shows because maybe British level snt the knd of pregression he needs. After a couple of tough Americans who could push him id deffinitely see him beating Saunders. He needs to have done a couple of scheduled 10 rounders first against those tough Americans to test the distance.
The one thing I would worry about Eubank Jr is the killer instinct. Maybe he wasnt trying to pace himself last night and just lacks that bit of spite that his dad had.
