Don't be such a pompous twit. If the God you believe in is so sensitive that he can be vulnerable to such a childish concept as Blasphemy then is he really worth believing in ?

You are taking the word of men whether that is the Bible, the Hindu Vedas or the Talmud as proof that such a thing even exists. If you want to believe in God fair enough that is your prerogative, but as soon as you start invoking fear and punishments for made up slights like "blasphemy" then are just choosing to believe the second hand word of men. Brains are capable of comprehending quite a lot and those that have really pushed that ability have made the effort to explain concepts like time in a much more thorough and reasoned way than just inventing a catch all excuse of not being able to comprehend.

    Ha ha.

So that makes you right then?

You know more about God and man than anyone else?

Its not trying to induce fear.
I hear lots of dia bando comments and his love for calzaghe and its purely banter!
You have no greater understanding than anyone else on the earth as to whether God exists or not.
There are many interpretations out there of the bible and many views of how it all started.
My view is that God was here all along and anyone else can be entitled to their view.
If you choose not to believe in God then thats your choice but dont think for one second that this amazing brain of ours just happened to be!

Oh come on. The brain is a result of evolution and learning. I dont think Beanz is saying that the possibility of a God is absurd but what he saying is the God zealots describe is. Big difference.

I just dont believe in evolution.
I dont believe in coming from apes and all that stuff.
    Sorry. Imho.

    The brain was created imho.

The brain continues to grow and learn new things and adapt to each era but i still believe it was created.

    Imho.

Evolution does not conflict with faith. Having said that the Chinese, who have the most complete fossil record on the planet had a conference in which scientists from around the world discussed the Chinese report on what they had found. The Chinese said the fossil record does not add up to what theories are out there. The Chinese listed a number of explanations for this one of which was intelligent design. In his book on evolution, Darwin had one sentence devoted to humans. How did one single cell creature evolve into every species that is and has been on the planet. God didn't come down you your jobs and slap the cocks out of your mouth so I think all you atheists should leave him alone

You don't believe in evolution ? something that is proven , but you believe in God something that isn't proven ?
I see, interesting, good luck with that one.

When was evolution proven, like I said the fossil record does not support current notions on the subject.

But this is where the conversation ends up where it started. Evolution is a fact. Like gravity. It really matters not whether you believe in it or not. The question here really is how much of a role did it play in our development and did something else get involved. I mean "do you believe in God" really means what is the origin of life. For example, perhaps God intervened right about the time we jumped out of the tree. There are all kinds of holes in evolution and avenues unexplained. I wonder why he/she/it made the dolphin brain so big? Those things cant even walk let alone handle a table saw or climb a tree. Yet their cerebral cortex is much larger then ours in relationship to body weight.

I can go along with something else being involved. I mean just the complexity of language and the earth being so damn intricate. Like a single organism. I mean if one really thinks about it the mathematical odds of all of this happening by random chance are really no different then the stories told in religion or specifically Christian. Both are dogmatic and fundamentalist and discussions more often then not generate heat and very little light whatsoever.

I dont believe that at 4 a.m. x billion years ago we crawled out on shore from some Amino acid organic soup.

Nor do I believe that a creator or designer if it exists resembles in any way shape or form the one that is described in the bible or its fundamentalist followers. That God seems to be a man made invention speaking of design.

Valid points. Once again I am not trying to preach I just want to address something you referred to. The bible doesn't explain God so to speak. It does attempt to explain Christ, who was part of God but it says over and over our minds can not understand God. None of us claim to be able to understand in its entirety, just bits and pieces. Evolution takes an act of faith to believe in. As I said aspects of it can be observed but not once species evolving into another. Gravity can be explained mathematically so it can be tested but the equation Newton developed was changed by Einstein and Einstein's are now the accepted where Newtons were for hundreds of years.Recently science has found gravity does not act the same in quantum mechanics, once again throwing a wrench in accepted science. Evolution at its core is both fact and theory, using it to explain the start of life can not be proven.

That's fine but there are a lot of inefficient design problems with many parts of the human body that make design, particularly by an all powerful creator highly improbable. I apologise if you were merely jesting but the concept of "Blasphemy" had been and continues to be used as an excuse for a lot of bloodshed. And no I don't think I know more than any one else on earth, that would make me a religious fundamentalist. I could be and often am, wrong.
