Mares really has to see where his heads at and how he comes back. Both of these guys suffered from the same downfall in a way with inflated egos and thinking stepping through the ropes won them half the fight. Much more Donaire and his inability to adjust, even in the Darchinyan rematch was glaring. Ultimately what got him in that mental fog in the first place...waiting on big power alone...pulled it out. If he doesn't strip himself down and retool to fundamentals and stop thinking he's some Anime action star I think he'll get beat again. Mares if anything had the fortune of being 'one & done' if however brutal and has shown adaptability and ok boxing up to that point. I think he has the ability to come back further than Donaire but time will tell.
