Floyd vs GGG?

Its only a matter of time before someone mentions that floyd is ducking GGG. It will happen. Soon enough.

Even floyd sr says that floyd is a natural 140 fighter.

Floyd needs to jump up to160 where his punches are even less effective so he is even more at a disadvantage against his opponents..its the only way he has a chance of loosing.

Who would you want floyd to fight next even if you like him or not?

The Golovkin fight is ridiculous. And I'm tired of his promoter and trainer talking so much. They need to get in the ring themselves or shut up. Calling everybody's name in 5 different weight classes and insinuating most are scared. They take away from how humble and nice of a guy Golovkin is. I'd like to see Floyd fight Garcia...at140. At 147 everybody pretty much sees it as a clinic but at Danny's weight it would be interesting. The fight wouldn't have to be built anymore and it gives Floyd incentive to be the reigning champ at 140, 147, and 154.

I agree. Floyd is a 140 pounder and is already fighting above his best weight. That being said, Floyd would have a great shot at beating GGG due to his speed n mobility. Thing is he would have to move the whole fight n potshot like he did vs Baldy, n then people would accuse him of being boring n running all night. Guy can't win either way.

Golovkin is one of the only real challenges to Floyd imo, it would be an amazing achievement if Floyd went to 160 & was victorious. In saying that I'd much prefer to see him fight Martinez for the lineal championship

Hopkins is an ATG & a name like that on Floyd's record would look nice. Hopkins dropping to 160 for the 1st time since 2005 might be enough of an incentive/ advantage to interest Mayweather

It's funny that you should bring up a fight between GGG and Floyd. Floyd has cleaned out the welterweight division of all credible challengers. GGG has not done that yet at 160. He still needs to meet Martinez, Barker, Murray and Quillin. So he has a lot to do there. When he gets to the point of fighting average guys on HBO PPV, then he should consider moving up. That's where we are with Floyd right now. He's cleaned out the division of available challengers and there's nowhere else to go but up for tough fights.

In my opinion, Khan is a waste of a fight. It adds nothing to his legacy and the conclusion is forgone already. If he fights Khan, there should be backlash. I don't want to hear crap about Khan is fast and speed troubles Floyd. Just go watch the Julio Diaz fight. If Diaz can time Khan, Floyd will have no trouble doing so.

Who else? The winner of the Lara/Trout fight is the most difficult fight out there for Floyd right now. I think he wins the fight, but it's the most difficult.

It's too early now, but in a few fights, if they keep winning, Thurman, Garcia and Broner are potential opponents that have the right promoter.

Unfortunately, the pickings are slim at or around 147. It's like Wladimir Klitschko at heavyweight. He's so far above the field that facing average guys doesn't do too much for me. Credit to them for that.

I mentioned GGG as its been talked about in the media alot and i think they know floyd is retiring end of 2015 (if he does!) so there trying to rush things along.

To tell you the truth, I don't really know where Floyd goes for his next fight besides the winner of Lara/Trout. Perhaps Alexander? Garcia has said he isn't ready, and I'll take him for his word. Broner is an opponent, assuming he beats Maidana in convincing fashion, because of his name value, but I don't think that fight is all that close. Am I missing someone?

Garcia should get the shot ahead of Khan imo. The Trout/ Lara winner should be in the mix. Maybe Pac or Bradley force Aram to try make the fight

If Floyd owns apart of the 154lb title and GGG can make it then why not?
Floyd moves up to 54 from 47 and GGG from 60 to 54! A match made in heaven.
Personally Floyd needs to be at 47 and GGG at 60 because their both the BEST there. People need to challenge THEM at their weight, not have THEM move up or down.
Next to the Heavyweight Title the Middleweight Champ was the second most prestigous title in boxing for many many years. GGG needs to stay right there and get Sergio to retire or fight!

I agree that Golovkin still has many credible opponents at 160 Martinez, Barker/ Sturm winner, Quillin (wouldn't mention Rubio though)

If Mayweather is going to venture to 160 then Martinez is the only opponent he should be targeting!

If those other guys want him they should meet him half way & fight at 160...

You can't duck somebody who is about 3 weights above your natural weight.. It would be ridiculous to call that a duck..

Agree with both you and Ray. I'd love to see Floyd and GGG at their best weights not exceeding 160 with no weight gains imposed on Floyd. That is not going to happen and I dont expect Floyd to do it. All kinds of safety issues would be raised.

All the junior welts are as big as Floyd so there are still fights at 147 as they begin to move up. Slim pickings mind you. Garcia will have to face the winner of Aydin/Postal.Could be an outside shot for Martinez/Floyd. More chance of that happening then 3G against either one imo. Floyd does not have a lot of stellar fights to choose from after Khan in his weight area.

3G's selection is just as scant. Martinez is not going to fight him so I think people need to move on. Martinez is going to cash out over the next two years.
Rubio is the mandatory for Martinez and I think Martinez will be looking for the winner of Cotto/Alvarez should it get done or come in under the radar and get Cotto. The Wbc will then let Rubio fight for the interim.

Barker has a date with Sturm and then a rematch clause he can execute if he loses so he's kinda busy. There is also a huge middleweight showdown simmering in Britain. Btw that's the fight I want at middle. Barker/3G. Quillin has an upcoming date with Jacobs and my money will be on Danny. Not only that Quillin imo and his people have no interest in facing the Russian. 3G it seems is just to much of a killer for his own good. He's gone and successed himself right out of the big fights. Perhaps if he takes a dive he will be able to get one.

Ward has offered him a fight at 168. He did say he would fight anyone from 154 to 170.
