Smartest thing Trinidad did at 147 was ducking Ike Quartey

Who you trying to kid? It's a fight that could have gone either way. Sure Quartey had a great jab, but he was primed for Trinidad's left hook.

I'd see both guys getting dropped, but Trinidad would take over down the stretch as Quartey faded.

Trinidad always had trouble with the jab. Oscar controlled him with it. Hopkins set him up with it. Winky Wright owned him with it. Quartey jab was better than all 3. Quartey might get careless and get dropped in the fight. But as long as he kept pumping his jab he wasn't losing.

Quartey was open for the left hook & Trinidad's was excellent. Quartey also didn't show a lot of movement & was drawn into brawls. Against Tito's power that would be bad news

What I did not like was the fact that Whitaker, Quartey and Tito would not fight another until ODH came and smash their cartel.

    Which means what, M?

Here's the fact I personally find amusing:

    Common Opponents

    Camacho: .....Trinidad - Jan '94 - UD12 ............ DLH - Sept '97 - UD12

    Campas: ......Trinidad - Sept '94 - TKO 4 (Campas undefeated at the time) ....... DLH - May '03 - TKO 7

    Carr: ............Trinidad - Dec '94 - TKO 8 (Carr undefeated at the time) .......... DLH - May '99 - TKO 11

(eerie string at that point of alphabetical order )

    Vargas: .........Trinidad - Dec '00 - TKO 12 (Vargas undefeated at the time) ............ DLH - Sept '02 - TKO 11

    Mayorga: .......Trinidad - Oct '04 - TKO 8 ................. DLH - May '06 - TKO 6

    Hence, the "leftovers theory".

I agree Tito was the best but it was only after ODH moved up did it all move around.

I think Tito would have beaten Ike but it would have been a great fight. Tito would have slaughtered Lopez like he did Campus which was one of the most entertaining fights ever.

I don't care really if Oscar fought opponents later on then Tito because he started his career at 130 and was not at the weight yet. Not mention when they fought Oscar total out box him and got robbed worse the Lewis vs Holyfeild the first fight any how i Still don't think Pac can box like Oscar to win it.

Oh... Trinidad-Quartey would've been a wonderful fight. The Campas fight was the turning point for me on Trinidad. Before that it was like "hey... this guy's pretty good". I remember Campas going in at 56-0 and being the monster everyone was scared of. When he dropped Trinidad early in the fight it like, "Oh-oh". But the way Trinidad came on, basically made a believer out of me... permanently.

Yes that is the fight I have watched the most, it is a classic of 2 undefeated young fighters. I wanted Oba Carr and campus to win but he made me a fan.

De La Hoya just beat them better

Camacho: Both go 12. De La Hoya floors Camacho and damn near has him out. Trinidad didn't come close to stopping Camacho

Campas: Trinidad floored and hurt by Campas. De La Hoya dominates him

Carr: Trinidad hurt and floored by Carr. De La Hoya has minor problems with him

Vargas: Trinidad floored, hurt and forced to use a low blow against Vargas. De La Hoya doesn't have as much trouble against Vargas

Mayorga: Trinidad floored by Mayorga. De La Hoya has no trouble with him

Oscar was clearly the better fighter than tito and this is coming from an unbias, neutral fan...
