I hope people dont start jumping to conclusions with Groves based on last Saturday. Groves entire camp was probably based around getting the right hand over Carls lazy left and it worked. It was only a matter of time before somebody took advantage of that practice. Carl probably under prepared believing in all the hype that he would cave the kid in early. That kd in the first took it all out of Froch upstairs. Had he prepared properly it would not have.
I'm skeptical about Groves. He still seems pretty easy to hit even with Carls low and degraded early output. The Chavez fight would be a good one. From what I've seen of both men and putting aside my dislike for Chavez I'd probably take him to beat Groves. I think Chavez has been positioned to take on the winner of Bika/Dirrell by magically appearing at #2 having never fought at that weight. Groves probably cant get the fight and I dont think Froch will either. In the mean time Groves needs to move along and get another fight in the next 4 to 6 months. Call out Kessler if need be or maybe throttle Abraham if he gets past Steiglitz.

I said Groves would KO Chavez jr long before Saturday night and everyone laughed at me.
IamInuit is right though, it's a whole different ball game for Groves now the cats been let out the bag. Whoever he faces in future will know he deserves maximum respect. There is now expectation on him too. He wont have the advantage of being in a no lose situation in future.

Most likely scenario:
- Fight would be held in Mexico, Las Vegas, Southern Cal, or Texas.
- Sulaiman would create a new title and call it: "WBC Gold Super Middleweight Champion".
- Sulaiman would stipulate that his godson....er..... JCC Jr..... could come in at whatever weight he wanted.
- Groves, however, would have to strictly make weight.
- Sulaiman would appoint three WBC-friendly judges from the WBC payroll. JCC Sr. would be one of those judges.
- The Chavez camp would choose:
- JCC Jr. would come into the ring between 190 and 200 pounds.
- ring size
- glove size
- all else that matters
- Groves would win every round, but would be unable to KO the much bigger opponent with the good chin.
- The scores would be 120-108, 120-108, 120-108....... winner JCC Jr.
- Couriers for blood and/or piss samples would mysteriously disappear on their way to the lab.
Groves naturally aint thatmuch smaller (if smaller at all) then Chavez. What decent punchers has Chavez faced? An old small Martinez? Brian Vera? Id say Groves gets him out of there. Chavez has a good chin but only so much punches one can take. Could be stopped on cut or swelling

Groves has shown he is a world class fighter, Junior has shown he is not but he is a huge fighter and should be able to survive the onslaught from Groves and get the ref to prematurely stop the fight in his favour.

Hello... I was being facetious?
I'm saying even with the deck stacked 300% in Junior's favor, Groves still wins the fight (although not the decision). Once again my warped sense of irony gets misunderstood.
Still, I get it. You're saying Groves is perfectly capable of KO'ing Junior. If that ever happened, I would buy the DVD Collector's Edition, and watch it daily. But seriously....... Martinez, albeit not a knockout puncher..... hit Junior with everything but the kitchen sink, and never got Junior seriously in trouble. Made him look like a rank amateur, yes..... but never had him in serious trouble.
