I thought Dempsey got that but without googlng it, it might have been the event that first made a million... regardless a million in them times is an amazing amount of dosh
yea and even with wins over Whitaker, Carr, Campas, Camacho, Pineda, Moore, Pendleton, and even DLH people think that guys like Pacquiao would walk right through him
Trinidad was never undisputed.
Back when there was only one recognised world champion they fought everyone. Now a champion gets to avoid the other best in the weight because of politics. So unless a fighter goes out of his way to take that disputing factor out by beating everyone its always disputable they would have won or lost against them. Much like Wlad never fighting Vitali.
Never realized that. Tito had two yr light touch lull there but moving up successful on own terms was quality. Still tempted to put Naploes for longevity with asterisk next to a one in a billion chance loss.
Tunney got the first million dollers against Dempsey.
Razer Ruddock became the first millionaire never fighting for a world title.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I always wanted to see Felix fight IKe Quartey they both held belts and where unbeaten , boxing is a funny old game , when Trinidad fought Oba Carr he koed him , CArr went the distance with Quartey.
However Ike hurt Oscar much more when he fought him , than Felix did.
@ElTerribleMorales I think most didn't say Pacquiao would walk through him, just that he'd outbox him. The way Pacquiao gets in and out and boxes in cirlces against the tougher guys is why people like me think this. Trinidad's record is overhyped. He beat an old Whittaker well, but not a prime one and his win over Oscar is highly questionable. The rest are decent, but not great fighters. He had very good power but he could be outboxed. I'm not saying he was a bad fighter because he was a great fighter and a great champion, but I think people made him out to be better than he actually was.
