If I tell someone Merry Christmas and they don't happen to celebrate Christmas they should know that I am just wishing them the joy, peace, love, and harmony that Christmas is supposed to represent.

If somebody wished me Happy Hanukah I'd know they'd be wishing me the best, ditto for Kwanza or whatever else is celebrated. On the contrary my friend. I have been tolerant for over half a century while watching my beliefs and memories be eroded. It does seem to have gone too far. Of course people need to consider others on occasion, but what does Santa matter? You move to a country, then respect that they have Santa. I don't like Santa, but then I don't won't go and visit him. It's not my right to tell everyone else that they cannot have a Santa. It is my right to say that I think Santa is a creepy, old bastard, but it isn't my right to ban him.

Nativity plays are also getting a harder time, but I have no issues with that. However, the reasons for them having a harder time are nothing to do with atheists like me. It is simply about not wanting to upset the token Muslim kids. As an older person who has wised up to the realities of religion and how it is all child abuse, I would never allow my child to take part or be indoctrinated in any Bible nonsense. I earned my first acting stripes as a Shepard, but the photographic evidence clearly shows that I was disenchanted with the entire process. As a child of atheistic upbringings, I really should not have been encouraged to take part in as warped a story as the birth of Christ.

Religion has no part to play in a classroom, but Santa isn't about religion. It's just about giving kids something fun. Religion is serious horrible shit, but Santa is just a laugh. Santa is like Peter Pan, or Thomas the Tank engine. It's only bad when adults start believing in fairy stories.
