On top of that, there's a good chance he's on the decline, and could easily lose to just about anyone that would be seen as a legitimate path to Floyd imo. Why else has he done dick all since losing to Garcia, he couldn't have been terribly invested in becoming a better fighter or proving anything. Can't blame Khan for wanting to cash out I guess, I'm just surprised how many people see this as a good fight.
Since losing to Garica he changed trainers, which meant he had to set up shop in a different part of the world, and had two comeback fights. He was then all set for Alexander last December, which would have been his next "big" title fight.
He then became the front runner for Floyd so was pulled out of that fight. No fighter on earth can make more than they will as a Floyd opponent. So who would have done different? Nobody. Khan and Floyd are basically both promoted by Golden Boy, so it's not like they don't know what's going on behind the scenes.
Khan's the last person that can be accused of lacking ambition. It's not his fault Floyd picked him.
