Aaron the Hawk would annihilate anybody at 140. Mayweather would have been overwhelmed.

The Hawk even smoked Hearns in the amateurs.
Doubt he would have beaten Duran had they ever met up.
Pryor was ferocious n non stop but who did he beat besides Arguello? And he cheated to do that the 1st time.
As great as Pryor was what a man Arguello was too. They were before my time but they were exciting.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Pryor was great in his prime. I think a slickster like Pernell or Floyd could have beaten him at 140, but I think Duran would have lost to him.
Maybe he smokes all the fighters at 140 at the moment but all time
Brock you're a fool!
First off, Pryor cheated and still BARELY beat Arguello. And tactically speaking it was Pryor's habit to extend his chin towards the sky as he threw combinations which means all those counter punchers would eat him alive. I also believe The Hawk could be outboxed and frustrated by slick boxers as Beanflicker suggested.
There were a ton of fighters at 140 who would have handled Pryor...a TON.
The Hawk would have deflected any counter attack with his moustache.
Nobody smokes everybody.
Julio Cesar Chavez
Meldrick Taylor
Hector Macho Camacho
Wilfred Benitez
Antonio Cervantes
The Untouchable Nicolino Locche
Pernell Whitaker
Kostya Tszyu
Manny Pacquiao
That's some of the best the division the division has ever seen.
Then there's real old timers like Barney Ross.
Very few could match Pryor toe-to-toe, counter-punching and boxing him is the way.
Pryor was a fantastic fighter, where's the hard evidence he was a cheat was he caught NO, you
can have your suspicions. What time is it Hawk time.![]()
pryor took every lea d right hand that Hearns threw in the amateurs, and every lead right hand that Arguello threw for 24 rounds. No way any Duran lead right hand is goingto stop him then. Lyle he BARELY beat him?? what fight were you watching?? he annihilated him twice to the canvass.
Pryor was a beast but his best win was over arguello who was past his best and was fighting above his best weight division..
I think he has a great shot at beating Chavez but he would get owned by duran and Pea...
Ok I'll say it.......the guy was not that good and nowhere near the fighter he is touted to be because he beat a long in the tooth battle worn Arguello at the end of his career and out of his weight class. Some people think old farts like me exaggerate eras past, well Pryor is one of the most overrated fighters of the 20th century. The only big win on his lodge pole was done with Panama in his corner and a mysterious bottle. I can easily make the leap given what I saw and what followed in the Collins/Resto fight. So even his only claim to fame is tainted.
Brock Tommy only had about 10 ko's in 150 odd fights as an amateur. He was a pure boxer back then and never even discovered he could punch until he turned pro. Brought to full effect under Manny. Btw, he would have torn Pryor a new ass if they ever met as pro's.
I've actually seen threads at forums with people putting forth the notion that Leonard ducked this guy. Its ridiculous. Leonard was at 147 and already retired for close to a year before Pryors first dubious fight with Arguello. Pryor was not even on Ray's radar before he retired. In addition he had already fought Hearns, Benitez and Duran twice back to back so what would be so scarey about Aaron Pryor?
When he retired the second time after the Howard fight for three years he came back and fought Hagler. I must have missed the great Aaron Pryor.
