Default Kiko Martinez to defend against Hozumi Hasegawa in Japan

Kiko Martinez-Hozumi Hasegawa Showdown is Inked - Boxing News

Wow, risky to go fight Hasegawa in Japan, I thought the Quigg unification was a certainty after what Martinez said recently. Good fight though, hopefully Quigg & Frampton will fight each other.

So much for Frampton's "world" title shot or Quigg's unification. Been trumped by the Japanese dosh.

Great fight. Be amazed if it goes past 8 rounds. Hasegawa KO 3 or Martinez KO 3.

Martinez was just after the biggest possible offer to go and lose his belt to somebody. The Japs obviously outbid the Brits. Good luck to Martinez, I really like watching him, hopefully Hasegawa is drained at the weight and Martinez gets to him late. That's the only chance he has of winning over there.

Well if montiel can flatten him there is no reason why a banger like martinez wont.

I hope he gets well paid but it would be too much for him to win.

My thoughts exactly. Hope he gets a lot of money in exchange for that title.

Martinez has a great chance to win by KO. Hasegawa's achilles heel is, he's willing to stand and trade and is a bit chinny. That's why it's a great fight.

And Martinez is obviously getting a much better deal than Frampton/Quigg's connections could offer him to steal his title. Japan probably has the healthiest boxing scene in the world.

I think Martinez has every chance here. Hes looked better then ever lately and is younger and stronger then Hasegawa, He also looks hungry

When I finally get round to taking my worldwide trip, a day at the Korakuen Hall watching about twenty bouts of competitive boxing is definitely on the cards.

Just know that hozumi is far past his prime so that's pretty sad if martjnez loses.

Agreed. It's a 50-50 fight. Hasegawa is the more skilled fighter. And overall the better fighter. But his ability to take a punch has really declined. And Martnez can punch

I believe Matinez will stop him. Hasegawa's punch resistance is not what it was and Martinez is a real banger at the weight, coupled with the fact that Hozumi is dropping down in weight for this, I think it's a calculated risk that will pay off for Kiko.

Big risk to go to Japan but I think Hasegawa is getting KTFO
