There wasn't a single Canadian boxer on the undercard in the biggest boxing event in Canada for thirty years. This does not augur well for the future of boxing in Canada.

Montreal is the only place in Canada that gives two fucks about boxing. Montreal is a MASSIVE fight city for boxing and MMA (due to the popularity of these guys, and GSP). But yeah, seeing the supposedly two biggest Canadian stars put on a lackluster show like that doesn't bode well for boxing in canada.
How can there not be any prospects though? There's nobody they can put even in a six rounder before the main event for an easy knockout?
There were a lot of Canadian fighters on the card, they just dodn't get on the broadcast. Why would HBO want to show a 6 round blowout by an unknown Canadian fighter?

Calling Bute and Pascal "imported" makes it sound like they didn't move to Canada under their own free will. Like the Canadian government has a program to import athletes because they can't grow their own. Its one of the most senseless things I read on this site today.
Why did they move to Canada? Because they got attractive offers from Canadian boxing promoters that they considered were the best business moves they could make. Otherwise they'd be American or German or British-based fighters.
They may like Canada as a place to live dumb ass.
Lovely weather this time of year. You've got to plug your car engine into an electric heater when you go to the supermarket so it isn't frozen solid when you come out. Just like southern California.
...and southern California is such a great place for recent immigrants who aren't rich and white. People in America are so tolerant and accepting. There's hardly any violent crime on the streets or rampant corruption or racism at every level of government. The political climate and socioeconomic classism not to mention the piss poor education and health system are truly desirable environments in which to raise a family!

    It was a poor fight.

I saw it as a close fight too. I had it 115-113 for Pascal or a draw.

Bute is a shot fighter, and Pascal is a shit fighter. Either would lose to Kovalev or Stevenson.

Lol sour grapes by people picking Bute is all.

Pascal easily won 9-3 but gassed at the end.

Good showing by Pascal and a mostly terrible showing and effort by Bute who looked very gun shy in there.

Where's Finito he wanted a sig bet about this one lol

Dierry Jean is fighting Lamont Peterson next week, would have been great to get that bout on the undercard. Dierry is another Haitain-Canadian with big potential.

Logan McGuinness is a decent prospect, don't know why they never got him.

    Who knows

Lemieux fought on November 30th on the Stevenson undercard so fighting less than 2 months after a pretty brutal fight just wasn't gunna happen.

Bute did fight a bit negative, but Pascal did hurt him and I feel Pascal did win, boxing sometimes
can be disappointing, but the fight you sometimes expect turns out poor in your eyes, maybe good
in others. Out of 10 I give it a 6, not bad about average.

So it appears it was not worth staying up for.

    I thought Bute won.

I deducted Pascal 2 points for overdoing the Roy impression and 1 point in the 12th round for laying in the corner for 60 seconds without throwing a punch. If in Britain Bute has a TKO victory to his name. So was arguably robbed.

The fight was bad as one was lazy and gasses and the other was all herky jerky and not doing anything.

I thought after 4- the fight was about 2 each and then Bute fell asleep and was outworked from that point on. But then.....the classic Pascal gas and on comes Bute for 3 good rounds.

7-5 overall, but if anyone was closer to getting stopped it was Pascal. When you are throwing nothing for 30-40 seconds, you can start making a case for a 10-8 round too.

Pascal got stupid and then later said he was doing it to get a rematch. That should be investigated if there is a rematch.

15 rounder and Bute would have ground out a result and maybe got to his man.

Still, poor fight. HBO was bad on both fights as usual. Biased with the Jones Jr/Pascal routine and on the undercard with house fighter who should have lost. His name excapes me.

The fight was entertaining for me. It was a clean tactical fight.
It was kinda Bute's fight to win or lose a Pascal wasn't really offering that great deal of problems to solve. It was intriguing though, to see Pascal fight a southpaws fight, actually moreso than Bute, who for some reason didn't let the right hook go until round 11. Should have been a much bigger part of his plan to counter those telegraphed lead rights to the body from Pascal.

Relatively easy win for Pascal though, had it easy in a way.

Bute was ineffective. Pascal so much quicker and toying with him. Even when Bute had a steady round, he would still end up getting caught-out by the flashy bursts of Pascal.

Pascal pretty much did as he pleased. I thought it was a very good performance by him and he was a worthy winner.

I scored it 118-111 to Pascal.

Bute was there for the taking. Froch didn't let him off the hook, Pascal did. If he fights Stevenson the why he fought Bute he's dead.
