Yeah..... he's the antithesis of the Canelo's and Chavez Jr's of the world. They're bringing him up awful fast, whereas these other guys fight 50 bums before seeing a live opponent. Polar opposites.

Wouldn't be nice to see amateurs actually taking fights to improve their development rather than just pad their records

Yes it would. Unfortunately that didn't happen to the late Sulaiman's proteges. They come from the school of "record padding". Hype the shit out of them.... feed them bums for 40-50 fights.... and award undeserved PPV status. Hell... with that M.O. even Boy George would've been a boxing champion.

It's not undeserved if the PPV sales. Hate all you want on Alvarez and Chavez but bottom line is they can turn a profit on PPV. Put Verdejo or Dularme on PPV and I guarantee you it bombs. Even if by some miracle there family were some how able to afford it they still wouldn't get it

Yeah I understand the need for building a prospect a little, you don't want anything to stiff or dangerous. You want your young fighter to build confidence and learn as he progresses. Not everyone is going to be as capable as Rigondeaux or Lomachenko right out of the box but each fight should be a step up of some sort, opponent has a good chin, more experienced, a southpaw, power, speed etc

Well like with anything else, you got your normal process and you got your extremes. Normal process you develop the boxer little by little.... increasing the quality of his opponents gradually. It's the blueprint used by most fighters. Then you got your extremes. In Loma's case, the guy's such an otherworldly talent that they're literally giving him world-class opposition right off the bat. Well... that and his vaunted amateur record. On the other extreme, you got your Canelo's and Junior's. The other 99% of the boxing population get brought along normally.

I totally agree with the comments on the way to develop a fighter, but Rigo and Lom
are different animals they have the tools and experience,! and of course talent and natural
ability. When you see someone special, as Lomachenko you no he does not have go the
normal route, as he is head and shoulders above his opposition.

Agreed. It is inspiring and fresh to see I'd prefer to see I guy with a 16-2 record but 12 of those opponents were competitive challenges
