If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a punch.

Bob and Weave and slipping punches.

Learn to block first because if you dont have the timing to block punches and counter then you wont have the timing to slip a punch and counter.

Learning to time punches and block them will help you develop the timing to slip and counter.

Imaging a clock, and move your upper body in the 10 ' o'clock, 2 ' o'clock, and 6 'o clock being a squat or bending your knees a bit.

So after a combo or as your moving in, you move your upper body diagonally to the left (10), then to the right (2), then duck with the 6.

That method gave me a foundation to work with and tweak and add so experiment. Worst case scenario you get punched.

AMong all the things mentioned. Get a partner to do floor drills with you. Wear head gear. Have him throw jabs at your head as you practice slipping, picking, or dodging. Start out slow...do not do the same defense maneuver every time. The have him throw the main punch doing the same thing. Do it often and do it daily. Practice until you become faster and can master it............THEN switch to another fighter and go through the same drills. Make this part of your regular training. Later on, combine it with movement and footwork. Good luck!
