Floyd took the bigger money to fight a champ, I won't dispute that.
Floyd took the bigger money to fight a champ, I won't dispute that.
He claimed to have got $1 dollar more, 8 million and 1 which is a joke..
The 8 million offer for margarito was on the table and floyd declined..
If I remember correct, Dan Goosen was the one who offered floyd 8mill and 1 to floyd..
Do u honestly believe that "Dan Goosen" has the power to put up that kind of money for a baldomir fight? Lol and this was in 2006!
Three big things about Floyd points out-
The Floyd vs. Manny fight
Fighting Cotto three years prior
The Paul Williams non-starter
After all of that, Floyd ducked no one as far as I can tell.

Well the Pac one was a cluster fuck, I don't see it coming down on just one guy.
The Cotto thing I never understood, though, because Cotto never really pursued a Mayweather fight until 2008 when Floyd was "retired", then he got destroyed by Margarito a few months later, making the fight irrelevant.
If Floyd ducked Paul Williams it wouldn't surprise me because everyone else did. I don't remember Paul ever really calling Mayweather out until 2009/2010, then he got KTFO by Martinez.
Bob Arum offered Floyd the 8 million to fight Margarito on a set date in the summer of 2006. Floyd said he couldn't be ready for a summer fight, as he injured his right hand against Judah in April. When Floyd said no to a summer fight, Arum used the date to feature Rahman/Maskaev 2 instead.
As for whether or not Floyd got 8 million for the Baldomir fight, who the fuck knows? Goosen went on record saying that he would put up that money and was willing to take a loss for the opportunity to promote more Mayweather bouts in the future and it's certainly possible the Mayweather name attracted more interested investors.
Aroudn the time Floyd turned the Marg fight down, he said he wanted to keep his schedule clear because he was waiting for the outcome of DLH/Mayorga to see if he could get the illusive DLH fight.
Is it possible Floyd wanted the easy fight vs Baldomir so as not taking the chance to fuck up a potential DLH fight? For sure. But does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? Who actually thought slow, plodding Margarito would have had a chance against Floyd?
Hah hah, lookit all the floyd pole smokers in here...

he didnt duck margo anymore than any other fighter ducks an inferior fighter that calls him out. floyd said that margo wasnt worth it and i agreed. margo was never that good. if he was the champ like baldo was at the time, floyd would have fought him and beaten him with ease. stop acting like margo was anything more than a solid fighter and that he wasnt a cheater.
Calzaghe ducked froch then.
Anyone can say anything about any fighter they dont like.
I actually feel that JC would have outbox froch anyway.
Yea. The Williams fight was a non-starter, but Williams was looking at staying at WW to make the fight as it was being indicated by his team.
The fight was something people felt should happen, but no one really called anyone out. It was an expected, end result for both of them.
As we know- Williams moved up and got knocked out from Martinez. And the rest with his accident is history.

Yeah I remember the Williams thing being something that was mentioned in passing but never really considered. I know Paul started getting nasty and shit talking Floyd before his rematch with Sergio but then we know what happened.
I was a big fan of Paul and I can defintely see Floyd havin reservations about fighting him. I think Floyd would have won, but Paul would have been a tough fight and really made him work.
Well everybody watch's Floyd in the hope, he gets sparked he plays us all clever guy,!
he may well pick his fights with care.
But like him or loathe him we all tune in to see him perform, the bull shit the hype what
ever you call it, he still sells plenty of PPV does he not. !
Floyd has generated more money in the history of boxing, than any other fighter and he's
not a Heavyweight, so he's doing something right.
Where did all the Floyd haters go? They never touched this thread.
