Got to admit, Cotto will fight ANYBODY!!! Wish I could get to Vegas to bet my house on Martinez. But much respect to Cotto.

BUT, If Cotto win, he could have his choice of a GIANT PAYDAY.

If Cotto wins, Canelo is a big step down.
    Did I say "big"?
    It's a HUGE step down.

Negative.. canelo is young, hungry, and healthy so he's actually a step up....

    Hmmm... let's see....

A: A future HOF'er, with his own legacy. A classy fighter who himself has faced the best out there. A natural bigger guy than Cotto, with Cotto taking a step up in weight. Epic showdown between two classy, future HOF'ers.

B: A coddled, pampered, overhyped ginger-haired boy.... who got taken to Boxing 101 by the same Floyd Mayweather who had a MUCH more competitive fight against Cotto. A guy who's a big draw, mostly because his female fans want him to be great. A WBC-made product just like Junior.

I like Cotto, always have. But if he manages a win here I'll stand up...applaud..then put my boots in a blender and drink them. Even make a video ala Brockton style

This cracks me up. Cotto is either going to get a beat down or he's taking advantage of a weak champion who should Cotto win will be relegated to shot before Cotto's post fight interview. How convenient.

That's the way it is with haters.... LOL.

You paint a convenient picture so matter what happens, the target of your hate gets no credit. It's so transparent, it's comical.

Wrong.. you cant shy away from facts and the fact are, martinez has been slipping in his last few fights and dude has been inactive after serious knee operations..

His knee went under the knife after the chavez fight but he suffered the same injury against murray that forced him another surgery.... doesnt that tell u anything?

When u can be objective about cotto, that'll be the day...

Cotto is like 5 foot 6, going up to 160 pounds and fighting the best middle weight at this time... How are people already saying he's picking him at the right time cotto is 5FOOT6INCHES!!! People say mayweather is 2 small for 154 now how the hell can he be taller then cotto and to small for 154 but yet cotto goes to 154 and barely anyone says that he's to small for now he goes to 160 and no one is putting that into consideration. Tell me why isn't mayweather, manny, canelo, ggg, the other good middle weight (can't remember his name now), or any other top fighter not running at the opportunity to dethrone Martinez after his surgery's if he's done for? I get it people say cotto is catching him at the right time but he is the smallest person that could be fighting him other then manny and is getting shit on!? The truth is Martinez is the best middle weight right now and cotto is making his first fight at middle weight against the best middle weight out there. There is nothing cowardly about this.

A lot of people would disagree and suggest Golovkn is the best middleweight right now and few would give Cotto a chance vs him. Sergio hasn't impressed in a while and struggled with Murray but he is a title holder so it's a big fight.

Cotto deserves credit for taking this fight. Had Martinez looked his best in recent fights I don't think the fight would have been signed. Signs are it will happen, Cotto will make history picking up a MW title but it's a big gamble if Martinez isn't as washed up as he thinks he is because there's a chance his style could make Cotto look silly

Martinez wins this easy for me if he's anywhere near the level of his last fight. His style is just wrong for Cotto. Canelo would be better for him I think. If Martinez wins and looks good I hope a fight with GGG happens.

    Objectively, I can't disagree.
Make a list of pluses and minuses for both sides, and the tally is a little one-sided.

    - Martinez has a 6" reach advantage. That's huge.
    - Martinez is naturally the bigger man. Cotto's optimum weight for his body type is 147. 154 was actually pushing the envelope.
    - Martinez has faster hands than Cotto.
    - Being a southpaw, Martinez has the natural advantage.

It's an uphill battle for Cotto. But that's the way he wants it. Either way, it's two HOF'ers going at it, with much respect between the two. This will be Cotto's biggest challenge to date.
