Valero was hired as De La Hoya's sparring partner for the Oscar/Pacquiao Dec 2008 fight because Valero was the same size as Pacquaio and both were hard hitting southpaws. He only sparred Oscar 8 rds on the one training session, beat him up, gave Oscar a blackeye. Then Oscar didn't spar him anymore, and Valero was removed from the training camp. Valero didn't reveal this stuff during the training camp, but just before the fight when they ask people how the fight's going to go, Valero gave his assessment and said Pacquiao was going to stop Oscar.
Valero was a world-class fighter, but unfortunately he was a gol durn nut.
The terrible crime scene photographs of his beautiful wife who died an extremely violent death at Valero's hands, they'll haunt you.
