It's a cause and effect thing as far as drugs lending to artistic endeavours, I tend to agree it's a bit silly to make a direct correlation, no matter how many names you can drop. Many great artists have the disposition, but are able to handle their demons and not become addicts. Many people are very talented and artistically inclined, but allow drugs to completely ruin their chances of doing anything. A lot of drug addicts have no real aptitude for anything creative. All of these brackets vastly outnumber the great artists who also kill themselves via drugs demographic, I suspect.
