It never ceases to amaze me how a lot of boxing fans have no clue about momentum: that boxing is a "what have you done lately" sport, not a "what did you do 4 years ago" sport.

Let's be honest, it's not Floyd that will choose who he fights, it's his paymasters. If Floyd was picking, he'd have picked the winner of his pathetic poll already! What Floyd has done is jump on the bandwagon and basically taken the piss out of these 2 fighters who are showing their desperation and begging to fight him (Khan more so.) I say Khan more so, because Maidana has other options ( Broner rematch) where he can earn decent money. But Khan has put all his eggs in one basket and made himself look a bit of a desperate prick IMO. Khan might as well go on the offensive and start calling Floyd a coward and really abuse him "Fury style"What's he got to lose? If/when he fights him , he's getting beat anyway.
Meanwhile , they're all waiting on tenterhooks, but Floyd is probably already in camp because he knows he's fighting on May 3rd. And his opponent will have a relatively short camp. At the end of the day, what does it matter because the only certainty is that Floyd will win!!!
Maidana has a new trainer that has improved his skills.
Khan has a new trainer that is trying to change what khan won't let go off.
We can all agree khan is super fast and a great boxer. But a khan vs maidana at welterweight would be the time for maidana to shine.
Maidana will be super confident after this win and khan could have fought Alexander but choose to wait for Floyd.
Can we blame khan for waiting?
Biggest payday ever BUT if he would have fought and beat Alexander he would have been in a much better position.
It's to bad nobody else was in the mix all along. Khan and Maidana fighting again would be a lot more interesting than either against Floyd, at least imo. I'm kind of hoping there was some truth to Maidana getting the shot and then Khan vs Broner on the undercard. With Mares in a good fight on the same card, that would sell all around.
If it were about rankings, Floyds resume would look very different. Floyd is doing his best to pick his own opponents and out of the two he has put in front of us, I'd say that not only is Khan the better fighter, he's the bigger draw. Whet its May 5th or December 25th.

Floyd is not entertaining enough to carry off a big fight. Khan is left in limbo land when he should be fighting. Forget them all I say!

What do you mean by that? When is the last time Floyd fought someone who wasn't ranked in the top 5 at the time?
It's not strictly about rankings, it's about momentum, heat, whatever you want to call it. Maidana has that with his big upset over Broner. Khan has no momentum; he took a beating from Garcia and then looked lackluster since. He just barely squeaked by Julio Diaz. That's not a performance that gets people excited about you.
Floyd still has four fights left and hes nearly 40.
A piece of him is going in every fight he has...
It should be bradley but lets just enjoy maidana for now as i wont enjoy khan.
It's obvious to me that the next fight should be Bradley or Garcia and yet as usual Mayweather is trying to manipulate the whole thing to his advantage. Sadly, I'll have to watch whoever he fights as I'm hoping one day he'll be knocked the fuck out. Which as a boxing fan I shouldn't be feeling but I can't help it.. Garcia would be a fairly easy fight for him I think but he deserves a shot and the payday I suppose after beating Matthyse… Bradley .. hmm, something tells me he gets the job done.. whoever?
Garcia could have had the fight, he didn't want it. He chose to stay at 140
Maidanas people are saying it's a done deal. I would have preferred Khan but Khan has nobody to blame but himself. When his name came into the picture he was set to fight Alexander. If he lost the fight he would have lost the Mayweather fight but by backing out of it he may have lost the Mayweather fight as well. If he would have beaten Alexander this whole Maidana/Khan debate wouldn't have happened.
Strangely I think Floyd is doing the right thing by picking Maidana even though I prefer the Khan fight.(if indeed he picks Maidana) Khan manipulated the vote. All other polls that Khan didn't rally the troops to had Maidana winning. By that without manipulation the fans clearly prefer Maidana.
I don't really care because neither beats Floyd. But Khan has embarrassed himself in his attempts to talk his way into the fight. If he was trying to tough talk his way it could be written off as just how it goes in boxing. But the way Khan has gone about it is pathetic, he come off a beggar.
Lets get something straight...whether one style MIGHT give Floyd a tougher fight....who DESERVES to fight him more? The answer is Maidana. As far as Khan being the bigger draw...i say BS. Amir is not Ricky Hatton. This fight will take place on Cinco De Mayo...and Mexican fans respect/will back Marcos...especially after his win over Broner. I think Mayweather vs. Maidana...with Broner vs. Khan as one of the undercards is a win win. Floyd faces a guy on a hot streak. Meanwhile Broner/Khan can fight it out for redemption/momentum. Make it happen!
1. Maidana hasnt done well at 147.
2. Maidana lost 2 of his biggest fights at 140 including to Khan
3. If u want to call Diaz a lightweight, then Maidana's last win was against a Super-Feather
4. Maidana bearly beat Morales who is about 10 years past his prime
5. Maidana has never avenged his losses
There is that arguement.
Then theres the arguement of:-
1. Khan has never fought at 147
2. Khan has lost two of his biggest fights at 140.
3. Khans last wins were against lightweights
4. Khan nearly lost in last fight to a past prime by 8 yrs lightweight.
5. Khan hasnt fought for ten months
6. Khan is a spoilt brat.
7. Khan has never avenged his losses.[/QUOTE]

Imp wins point 1
Khan was the better fighter at 140lb - point bzkfn
Broner will never fight at super feather again - point imp
Maidana victory was better point imp
Draw who cares if they never avenge their losses.
The battle is declared a draw.![]()

It's all about what's fresh in peoples minds. Maidana just came off a huge, entertaining, and emphatic win over a big name opponent that was supposed to be the next big thing. He is on a 4 fight win streak...most by KO/TKO. Khan has not looked impressive in a LONG time...even when he has won. Add to it that people are overselling Khan's PPV popularity (he is not Hatton)...Maidana deserves this fight.
