Imagine a prime oliver mccall and prime vitali going at it!
I actually think Vitali did better AFTER fighting Lennox, it gave him a boost. it let Vitali know 100% for certain that he was on another level than the rest of the heavyweights. After the fight and the layoff due to surgery Vitali tore through Johnson and Danny Williams and he looked amazing in those fights. I just wish the competition was of a higher caliber...DW had the heart but not enough talent to make it anywhere near close and Kirk Johnson just got pounded out of the sport entirely.

@Master I know you agree with me, but I'm just saying that even an older, slower, less dynamic Lennox Lewis could have beaten Byrd and Ruiz because both of those guys lacked the firepower needed to KO Leennox. Now Rocky vs Liston we're talking a size matchup which is not favorable to Rocky AND a huge power puncher as well. That said, The Rock never seemed unmotivated in the ring.
Rocky would have been old and unmotivated hence the reason why he retired. Both Rocky and Lennox retired at the right time.
Rocky retired because of his back injury.

Chris....that's ridiculous, he was LAZY vs Bruno, Briggs, and Rahman and he lost vs Rahman because of it but he wasn't lazy or in/under prepared for Vitali he was just old.
I agree he was old also, which is the #1 reason there was no rematch

No. Lennox Lewis was not a coward. He was smart. His chances of winning the rematch were very slim which he and Klitschko both knew very well and by retiring he got to go out on a high note not being suppplanted by the next generation and still to this day seeds significant doubt over Klitschko. I think it robbed Vitali of glory but I don't blame Lennox one bit, it was how it played out. Lennox faced multiple career problems outside his control (Bowe duck, Holy robbery etc) as well and ironically the end of Vitali's own career ushered in similar insults as well such as Vitali retired rather than "face" guys like Stiverne.
"Enough with the games mate! Your messing with the Grand Master!"

Klitschko is Lewis best win it makes his resume that much better and no he is no coward. Lewis had some bad losses in his career but he did avenge them and did well except McCall fight that was a weird thing there if he was not so fucked up McCall would of cause him problems always. Holyfeild and Tyson were done by the time Lewis got to them so the Klistcho win pretty much makes his resume 10x better then if it was not there. Also no man that is in the top 10 atg Hw you could ever call a coward thats crazy.

Lennox had been Champion for years and has already made a ton of money. No reason to fight anymore. Lennox fought all comers for years. How does that make him a coward?

El kabong has a bit of an issue with letting lewis go quietly..

Either way, vitali did a great job and made his best entrance to the heavyweight scene.

Absolutely not. He was being smart unlike so many other fighters who continued only to damage tneir legacies..

He made a wise choice that roy couldnt. If roy had retired after the first tarver fight, he could have been known as the greatest ever, yet look what happened..

Lewis kicked vitalis ass anyways. It was a perfect ending.
