Briggs and his asthmatic 42 year old lungs. After getting so worked up there with his fit, his lifelong asthma would've kicked in about 30 more seconds. Wladimir would destroy him...just as any current Top 20 Heavy can. Top Cruiserweights would take out Briggs at this point. Briggs almost died from the prolonged beating Vitali put on him, and that was about 4 years ago. Briggs is just totally finished, but is trying to talk his way into a big money fight because he needs the bread.

Funny, on espn classic just a few hours ago, I was watching Lennox Lewis easily dispatch a prime Shannon Briggs with no trouble at all. Quite amazing really. Briggs is such a large, menacing, muscular, intimidating guy, but that mindgame won't work on a seasoned Champion like Lennox. Skills was in a totally different ballpark. Lennox didn't have a mark on his face, and Briggs really took a $#!t-kicking there.

Yes Lennox easily dispatched him except for the part where he was almost knocked out himself.

Briggs always had a tremendous left hook.

It's too bad his movie career fizzled n never took off after Transpoter 2. He is a scary looking dude. Too nice in the ring tho n a lil timid at times.

Briggs always had a problem with his asthma, what I mean is that it was always in the back of his mind. I think he was afraid to go all out. He would look great (as far as his stamina was concerned) and then start clinging, throwing arm punches and stumbling around. I knew it was coming and it drove me crazy so I stopped watching him fight.

Lennox was NOT almost knocked out, he wasn't even knocked down.

The left hook that started the attack wasn't much of a shot at all, it was a balance shot, but Briggs isn't too bright and thought he really hurt Lewis, so Briggs went on the attack. It was mostly a non-effective onslaught where most of the shots were caught by Lewis's arms and gloves, but right near the end, Briggs actually did hurt Lennox with the 3 consecutive rabbit punches that he got away with.

Hardly counts as being "almost knocked out himself" though! Too much exaggeration.

Hardly counts as easily dispatched either. Rahman II and Grant were matches where Lennox easily dispatched his opponents.

Wlad was getting his hands wrapped so a bit of a bitch move by Briggs.

I think after 4 years of absence he needs a few decent wins before he is considered a challenger.
    You say tomato,

You can tell Briggs really wanted to fight Wlad by the way a 5ft 100lb kid was able to hold him back.

Just how does a guy get that close to a guy in his own camp, he looks even more looney tunes rewatching it. Never considered the asthma situation . Muct be extremely confident in conditioning as the last thing you want is to be in the middle of some shrieking tyraid and stop to pull out the inhaler and start taking huge hits.

"I vwill make you eat your shoe" Briggs looks like he knows its all passed him by

I'm a mild asthmatic. All you need to do is do your miles, 2 or 3 a day for non atheletes, and stay away from dust mites and dusty areas- as well as be careful of windy days and pollen (not that serious this point, but just to make sure you remain comfortable) and you will be ok!!!
    Bigger man George, bigger punch!
