McCall along with James Toney are two of the few guys in this sport who I consider as throwback fighters.

mccall was a good fighter. hell, he ko'ed lennox lewis, that should tell u something.
he hits real fucking hard, i can tell u that. i saw him fight in louisville KY, and met him. nice guy.
and no, i dont consider lewis beating him in that second fight. the guy had a breakdown. the record says he beat him, but not in my eyes.
That's what I was trying to say above. I know mental issues is not an excuse but it is a reason.
I often defend the claim that Lewis beat every man he ever faced and it's true.
But I would also argue that he never "convincingly" beat McCall.
The die hard Lewtard tends to put forward that Lewis MADE him cry.

I really like McCall a lot, he's one of the toughest ever. Powerful too and just a beast. He's still kickin too.
However, he's not in the top 10 hw champs of all time or probably even top 20.
He barely beat an old Larry Holmes and lost to Frank Bruno.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Yeah for that status he should have been able to handle Larry and should NEVER have lost to Frank fucking Bruno. That's the other side of the coin.

McCall lost to quality fighters like Douglas, Tucker, Hunter and Norris so he was not that good. He has one of the best chins in history but could be out boxed.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I believe the flowered version of McCall would also have been a harder customer than when he was a sparring partner for Tyson anyway.
But my money'd be on Mike anyway of course!
