Re: Riddick Bowe 92 vs Mike Tyson 88
Tyson did have a good chin too though, but he was KO'd though. In his prime though Tyson was very fast and more powerful than anybody Bowe faced.
The biggest problem I see for Tyson is dealing with the height and range difference of Bowe.
Tyson did beat guys of similar size to Bowe but they were all bums.
I cannot write off Mike in this fight but I will lean toward a Bowe victory if I had to choose as well.
On the other hand Bowe was not all that hard to hit and on the inside he could be subjected to Tysons crisp and powerful fast combinations that would rock Bowe. However the Buster fight kind of goes a long way to mitigating that threat and proving that a guy like Riddick could also handle Tyson, probably even better.
Many would defend Tyson here though by claiming that that version of Tyson Buster beat was not prime or suffered drug problems at the time. But I think that Tyson was pretty close to prime.
I still consider later versions of Tyson to be extremely dangerous anyway, despite the losses to Holyfield who was a bad style match up for him at his degenerated slugger style. I think against certain opponents the heftier later Tyson would have been just as dangerous.
But probably not for Bowe!
