Belmontes did it to himself, show boating, failing to engage, in other words fighting stupid. It was right there for him if he had just fought like he wanted it more.
There is no doubt Belmontes is the better boxer with faster hands and positioning, but he has to realize this is the pros and the judges want to see you fighting every minute, especially in a fight where a belt is on the line. He screwed himself.
Just caught the matthysse molina fight as i had a wedding to attend, holy shit, props to both, but dam matthysse once he gets the engine going is insane...
I didn't even realize this was the same Molina who was blasted out in a round against Demarco a while back!! How the hell did that happen is what I'm wondering...

Demarco's KO of moliba wasnt even legit yet people made too much out of that fight. People made moliba out to be some glasschinned brawler who got wrecked but the truth is, he got caught cold got bombed on while trapped against the ropes..
It was one of those situations where a fighter got sent to the ropes after getting buzzed, then demarco started throwing quick flurries to force a stoppage.. molina wasnt even hurt..
Think of Calzaghe-Manfredo...
Demarco-molina was early stoppage..
I'm sure he just got caught cold and all, but considering the punches he was taking from Lucas last night it's hard to believe that's the same guy.

Watched the recording earlier today. Matthysse - Molina was a barnstormer of a fight, Great Sunday morning entertainment and both guys take a lot of credit for maintaining that kind of intensity for so many rounds. Spicoli was right when he said "who needs the HW's ?" Compare that to last nights HW mismatch and it's like chalk and cheese. Molina may have been the underdog but he sure as hell didn't fight like one. Although I am glad Lucas won I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for Molinas next scrap.
Thurman did what he had to but he is all out of short nights and will have to really test his mettle next time. Who knows he may be the real deal but something tells me he may have to take a setback in order to fully realise his potential.
