What do you see in Thurman that separates him from the likes of POrter, Brook, and the other top talents at WW?

Oh yea, and he needs to cut his gay hair and watch out for the fashion police cuz he dont know how to dress.
Not sure how you measure great. Seems fans have different views on what that actually means. If we are expecting someone to measure up to Floyd then we may be in for a long wait. We are in an era that has manufactured greatness. Lots of "Stars"

What I see in Thurman that seems to lack in many today is an old school simple bad ass mentality. The mentality can also be seen in the way he carries himself, his body language. I think that if he was in charge of his own career he'd most likely fight anybody. We both know how careers are steered with very few that call their own shots. The mikmen are many.

He looks to me to have better skills the Porter but less then Brook but with that Lamotta like mentality he could most definitely beat or even dominate better skilled opponents. He may also have been born in the wrong era. He could get a little pacified in todays market and lose that edge that he brought with him.
Great post. I thought Thurman was underrated but with recent chatter I think the pendulum has swung. I'm not sure how we define greatness either. For instance I think he would dominate and stop Marquez right now. But I don't think he'll ever be as good as Marquez if that makes any sense.

Makes 100% senses. I believe he would also crush Pac but do not believe he will ever be greater than the two. It's all relative to timing

Well I think hes fuc*ing awesome. Dangerous on the back foot. Powerful with good stamina. Shuts his opponents out. The guy gets hit but if you are a fighter like him that takes risks to win, your gonna get hit. He is very easy to watch. Im a fan and think he is the next big thing.

he is very athletic but seems like a fighter who will eventually get totally outboxed by a random opponent then be considered exposed but then comeback and beat a top guy. he is one of those fighters who has some great qualities which will help him beat some great fighters but also lacks certain qualities which make him very beatable.

i agree that if we are looking for another boxing superstar then thurman is not it. i believe that he will be around for a long time though beating good fighters and spending time as the champion.

    Selling Thurman short I see.

You can only hope he doesn't become a star...I don't see anybody stopping him from being just that.

He is exciting but I have been bitten before, I thought Berto was going to be the next great thing. I want him to do well but always have doubt after that.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
