A lot of the reason pork is forbidden in that part of the world actually dates way back to the days before refrigeration was possible, the meat would spoil very quickly in desert heat and was susceptible to all kinds of viruses that would make people sick etc.

EXACTLY, same with shellfish!

Jewish people who don't eat shellfish or pork, don't complain about restaurants serving pork or shellfish, they just don't fucking eat it.

Lyle there are plenty of Orhtodox Jews in New York and New Jersey and connecticut who would NEVER enter a restaurant let alone EAT there that is serving NON_KOSHER foods.

It should make no difference if you eat meat anyway. Yes you should have the choice and knowledge of what you are eating but if you use to eat elsewhere just because you do not like the religion or the religious aspects of it should not be reason enough to not eat it.

The state of our seas nowadays I would say a prayer if I still fished. "please lord may this blighter not have swum in the radioactive waste from the local subs or swallowed a condom from a sea born sewage outlet, I don't mind trout but I dont want to catch the other type of brown fishy" :-P

Ive always wondered about the Ganges and other such populated rivers does anything live in there anymore,do they fish them and eat from them if so do the fish all look like Dr Zyborg?
