The difference is most of these flatliners remain anonymous to the mainstream, but the mainstream insist on paying top dollar for Mayweather's carefully-selected sleep-inducers (Maidana fight excepted).
I have seen all these boring fighters.....but the difference with Floyd he has been touted has an All Time Great.....I am sure these boxing fans mean by that is ALL TIME GREAT BORE!!!!
Johnny Nelson had one or 2 bad fights....against De Leon...and he cannot be forgiven about that
Sad that Broner wants to copy Floyd.....get Broner his coat!!!!

There's not much going on in Boxing at the moment, so I guess it'll be Mayweather-bashing just to pass the time 'till Arreola's impending KO win on Saturday night...
I don't understand why Floyd is called boring. I don't think he is greater than Leonard, Robinson...etc., but the guy is a great fighter n technician. He is also fighting well above his weight. He weighed in at 148. And probably walks around at 152. He's a 140 pound fighter at most, n he is beating top guys at 147 n 154. Not saying the guy is unbeatable n the greatest ever, but he has fought some good competition n looked good doing it. Canelo, Oscar, Baldy...etc. were much bigger. U can't fault him for not going toe to toe. That isn't his style n he would be dumb to do it. Fights vs Hatton, Maidana, Castillo, Chico, Hernandez...etc. were all good showings.
Its funny because the same people who think they are boring will tune in and watch them every time.
I take Floyd off because his jab.
I watch Andre Ward, I like his personality but he can be boring
I shouldn't even need to mention Wlad.
Broner has a ridiculous style, a boxer who doesn't punch.
Canelo, when he fights for half a round.
I respect what he does but Rigo is bad.
Most of these fighters I will still watch but I don't get pissed if I miss the fight
floyd isnt really that boring. i actually enjoy most of his matches even if others dont. the difference is that floyd has been in some good fights by normal standards (see the maidana fight). even if most are boring, some are pretty entertaining. someone like wlad never has an exciting fight. the only exciting thing he has ever done is flail his arms around while getting KO'd. or someone like ruiz who has never been in a good fight. norman stone was the only positive for his fights.
so mayweather really isnt that bad comparatively plus, he is way more skilled than most of these other boring fighters which automatically make him more bearable to watch.
There are guys who are trying to be special, and there are guys who are trying to be successful
Usually, the successful guys are the most boring, so
1. Wlad
2. Floyd (love his style in amateurs though)
3. Ward (love his style in amateurs though)
4. Rigo (love his style in amateurs though)
5. Bradley, Hopkins, Wright, Alexander, basically anybody without a personality and fighting traditional way without a unique feature

The game itself has changed and the fans as well.
Boxing is entertainment sold to the public.
Once upon a time, if a fighter didn't entertain, then the fans booed, and the boring guy got a reputation as being not worth paying for (unless you were a sucker!), and promoters just wouldn't promote that guy because his name didn't sell tickets.
It used to be that fighters understood that one had to be entertaining to make money in Boxing. This concept is part of why Mike Tyson said he fought the way he did in his prime.
That concept is not so anymore.
People nowadays are perfectly content to pay top dollar for non-entertaining bore-fests, proven by Mayweather's outstanding PPV numbers and Wladimir selling out a German stadium every time out and setting television broadcast records in Germany. You hear griping that it wasn't exciting, but folks continue to pay their money. Promoters avoided selling $#!t in the past because it didn't sell, but nowadays, they realize people don't mind paying for $#!t at all !
In the past, I don't recall ever seeing so many boring top fighters as there are right now! Boring, yet so well-paid that they only have to fight once or twice a year!
