I don't recall Briggs career well because he's been irrelevant for the great majority of time but my recollection was that Briggs looked absolute shit in that fight up until the KO. Am I remembering this wrong?
The last time he looked good was when he iced the Russian with one second to go,

You are right. That fight was truly awful and I wanted to kill myself.
