Stevenson doesn't have superman's stamina. He gasses after some rounds.
He also doesn't have superman's titanium chin.

I will let you into a little secret.....it's only a nickname!
Stevenson is good. He is fast, tricky, but at the end of the day is a human being. In boxing terms he is quite old too. Superman was of course an alien with super powers and ultimately a boxer with such a nickname is never going to quite live up the full blown majesty of arguably the finest comic book hero.
We cannot just give ourselves a nickname and become the fantasy. I myself don't wear dresses or have magic powers. It is a let down, I know. Boxers are only human and they typically have flaws and get old. When I was younger I expected Calzaghe to come out of his corner with green scales and smoke blazing out of his nostrils. He was a fine fighter and dazzled, but he could never quite escape reality with the powers of Merlin granted by a nickname.
Stevenson does have a problem with stamina, and he should do what ever it takes to make it go away, but he was throwing a lot of punches and working hard to keep Petrov at the right distance.
I really didn't expect him to be like Superman, everybody knows Superman was a white dude.
Not sure what to say here. Stamina issues? The guy fought his ass off for 12 rounds in a fight that he had to work the full 3 minutes of every round to the credit of his opponent. Like almost every Manny student he throws his jab with everything on it and his straight left. I defy any fighter to be as active as he was sitting down on every punch and not be as tired as he was. Not sure what people expect. When I played Junior hockey I was spent after a 40 second shift. We routinely see guys gassed after 4 rounds weekly not working half as much.
I dont think stamina is an issue for him. He is just technically challenged and limited..
I always thought he's a one handed fighter and there is no way hopkins would lose to this dude.
I think Pascal would beat him too..
Hopkins would win, I have serious doubts about Pascal.
Stevenson wasn't 'technically challenged or limited' during the first half of that fight.
He gassed for a couple of rounds and let Petrov make a fight of it, he has a stamina problem. I don't know if it's a training problem or in his head....could be he spends too much time thinking about his entrance.
He came back from a difficult spot (no gas in the tank) to win that fight, he showed he wanted it more by shutting the door on Petrov, good for him.
This proves the old adage "you're only as good as your last fight."
Look how far Stevenson's stock has dropped as a result of this fight.
Eubanks was never simply the best
Herol bomber Graham did not have bombs
Hearns did not kill people for money
Hagler was not always marvellous
McCallum did not not steal from graves.......

Actually MacCullum was once arrested for grave robbery in Kingston.![]()

It was a good fight and if anything was wrong, it was the fact that Stevenson actually thought he was Superman. Stevenson's vanity got him in trouble and he underestimated Fonfara and traveled unprotected that round with his hands down. Everyone made mistakes in this fight and got caught but the champ proved he could endure and he did. That is why he is the champ, because of that quality. Fonfara did not raise his work rate to acceptable proportions but he was far behind when he did. It was a good fight anyway!
This was Stevenson's first 12 round fight? It was a learning experience for him even at this advanced stage.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
