Its a trip. It looks like it was Golovkin camp who looked for options away from the newly named "mandatory" Jarrod Fletcher. I think they were thinking what a network would air and HBO would once again leave Fletcher v Golovkin in the basement to be unseen. Enter Geale.

Looks like Fletcher...who I still have no fooking idea who he is...is being matched with Danny Jacobs for the "regular" wba trinket?! Sure to ride the undercard if a cynical guy thinks about it.

    Golovkin v Jacobs anyone
Flecther was KOd in a few by Billy Joe Saunders. GGG stops him in 1. Pointless fight. Jacob v GGG is a good fight.
Jacob as a good opponent might be a bit of a stretch, more like passable. Middleweight is relatively bad right now there's no reason any champ should be fighting guys outside the top 10.
Geale is in the top 5 in all 4 organisations rankings, Jacob is top 5 in all 4 also, Fletcher is 2nd in WBA and top 15 in the rest. I think all 3 are legit, but Fletcher by far would be too easy for GGG.
I agree the Geale fight is a far better fight than Fletcher. I just had no idea that Jacobs was that highly ranked by the sanctioning bodies. He's only had one top flight fight against Pirog and he was quickly KOed. I had looked over various other rankings like(I apologize for mentioning these clowns) ESPNs rankings and a few websites fan rankings and he was outside the top 10. I'm not judging GGG harshly, I really like the Geale fight. I just haven't seen Jacobs prove he's ready yet by beating top opposition. I'll look into it further.

Okay, I just looked through Jacobs opponents since Pirog destroyed him on boxrec(who has Jacobs as #25 in the world at Middleweight BTW) and it is not impressive. So I went back and watched the Pirog fight again because I don't think you learn much against weak competition. Jacobs might have taken a couple rounds but at no point was he winning the fight. Pirog was in complete control throughout and it was just a when will Pirog knock him out type fight. I see absolutely nothing that suggests he'd be able to last against GGG. I realize GGG and Pirog fight completely different and GGGs more conventional approach may lead to greater success for Jacobs but I firmly believe he doesn't see the championship rounds. His defense just isn't there.

I agree but I think Jacobs is good enough to get a shot at a title. I just think he'll be going for Quillin ahead of GGG.

A Fletcher v Jacobs fight is looking like a sure thing. At the end of the day and unless lightning strikes for Geale.. one of them will be Golovkins co-champion. Can see it going either to a Jacobs v Golovkin or unification (think wbo/ wba would dare?) with Quillin and Jacobs as are same promotion. I dont see Jacobs beating Quillin or Golovkin. Well, they were before the gbp meltdown at least?!

The bad part is the politicking and Fletcher being a 'mandatory', the good part is at things are in motion and Golovkins people are actually interested in his fights being aired in the U.S this time around.

Daniel Geale is the #2 ranked middleweight in the world by Ring Magazine.

However, Sam Soliman is the #4 ranked middleweight in the world by Ring Magazine.

So maybe I shouldn't put too much bank into their rankings.

Still feel that Geale is a very tough, wily, proven commodity who will present a challenge to GGG early.

GG hasn't fought top opposition either...he got his paper trinket by beating the ghost of Kassim Ouma for a vacant title.

Yep...and GG can do some avoiding of his own as "superchamp"
    Exactly who is he avoiding?
Ignore him he is trying to be a prick.
    ...and succeeding.

Geale will definitely bring it to the table and GGG might have to go the distance for a change. GGG will win, but he will need to watch it. It's not the first time they have fought either. They fought as amateurs in 2001.

Have you seen Jacobs fight lately?...it doesn't seem like you have.

Don't write Danny off because he got KO'd...ya'll didn't write off Khan...Tszyu or Pacman.
