I believe the Holyfield fight really opened people's eyes to George's true grit and legitimacy at the world class level.

His very close fight with Stewart probably damaged his reputation as Alex was a big big puncher against weaker opposition, but he was never a true top contender.

I like Alex Stewart a lot too. Seemed like a hell of a nice guy and his fight with Ezra Sellers I think it was, that fight is AWESOME.

So it looks like he was extended the whole 12 rounds the other night On one hand hey, he proved stamina and got in work. On the other I've seen clips of this and he was going hell bent on the guy in the corner like a caveman or tough guy contestant and the guy went no where? Anyone manage to see the fight?

I did not see it, but he's opponent looked to be a top 20-30ish heavyweight? Former Latin America's champion or something?

Anyway ill youtube it n see these clips, but I agree that Briggs shoulda finished the guy.

But hey lesser guys also went the distance with Foreman in his comeback, mostly toward the end of it tho. Savarese, Grimsley, etc.

    Epic my ass.

The first thing I thought when reading this thread is: has anybody actually followed his career at all? His 2 best wins are a gift decision against George Foreman and a lucky knockout in the last round against knucklehead Sergei Liakhovich in literally the last 5 seconds of the bout. The White Wolf ignored trainer Kenny Weldon's sage advice to stay out of range in the 12th round and got clobbered by the wheezing Briggs and lost a fight he was winning handily. Even at his best -- 229 lbs., quick, young and strong -- he got his ass handed to him by Lennox Lewis. Vitali Klitschko also beat him like a gong. If Briggs ever wins another title, I'll walk naked through the streets of Los Angeles just to get arrested.

if anyone can name 3 impressive wins over well-respected heavyweights, not counting the above-mentioned bouts, I'll buy them a steak dinner at Morton's steakhouse in Los Angeles.
