The word bum is thrown around far too much in boxing. Roy Jones is 3-0 in his last 3 against fighters with a combined rec of 48-8 one of which was an unbeaten Pole in Poland. He clearly not as good as he was but come on have a bit of respect. All of a sudden if you can t beat the world champs your a bum?

Yeah, he's a top favorite of mine too but he needs to stop before he can't see straight. Doesn't it seem like he fights every other month too?

Good stuff. But Chacon did win his last 7 in a row against stiff opposition.

    Thanks and good topic.

Damage was done during that time period imo and the comp was not that stiff. Average at best after Mancini and many fighters won the fights that were the "one to many" In Chacons case it may have been the last Limon encounter.

It be pretty tough to pin point the ONE fight that was to many. I assumed "one war to many" to not be 1 specific, For example the fight or fights to many for Ali came before the Holmes criminal act. Same with my favourite little man Jimmy Wilde. His fight to many occurred long before he met Pancho Villa.

And just to be clear Willie Pep was pretty sharp until the last few years of his life. Now his dementia could have been the result of simple deterioration because of old age but I think it began with Sandy Saddler.

The Limon/Boza Edwards fights did it for sure. Ironically, one of his victim at the end was Roach and he gave Freddie a terrible beating as he did to Montana who became punchy.

The Road Warrior Johnson is one tough fighter who has been in a war too many, particularly vs Makabu where he got hurt a few times and took LOTS of damage

Yeah he looked a bit fruit caked out even back when he fought that mixed up battle against Brewster, some thing went loopy just before he went all out and won,it was like he was confused about getting knocked down, couple of bolts came loose maybe, weird actions he portrayed even way back then.
