Great article.
I think in the near future we'll be watching the Al Haymon boxing league in America.

3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
A guest appearance on Hoarders and then his own reality tv show.
I'm torn on how to view Haymon's takeover of boxing. On the one hand, he's good for boxers and there are too many great boxers that we seen suffer greatly later in life, not just from the physical effects of boxing but destitute and without any resources to keep them afloat. Haymon got guys like Andre Berto and Adrian Broner more money than arguably their talent warranted. On the other hand, how many of his fighters are paid handsomely without having to face any challenges or languish without fighting anyone of note. Look at Garcia and Quillin now. How many fights are we missing because Haymon is the advisor?
From a selfish perspective, I want the best fights, but from a perspective of what's best for the boxers, I want the boxers to be best off. It's a somewhat tough call.
Haha, a good one and a dark possibility.
I doubt if Hayman even knows how things are going to play out, there are so many variables, I don't see how he could.
I'm pretty sure he is going to be spending a lot of time and money in court.
If I was Hayman, I'd lay out the money for some military grade body armor too. There is a lot of money in boxing, enough for everyone so when someone comes along wanting to do it "his way", he can expect some stiff resistance.
I know one thing for sure, Hayman doesn't have enough money to buy everyone off.
We'll see how it plays out. Boxing is so fucked up in some ways, that sometimes I'd like to see someone like Hayman come along and straighten the the whole thing out. lol
Who would you trust with that kind of power?
That guy would make Dana White blush.
Another promoter who will build his own empire and not make the best fight out there because he will not work with other promoters. Great.![]()
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Thank you M! That was exactly my point earlier. Lost in all the debate about fighter X and fighter Y and who is promoting who.... is the bigger picture. Who the hell needs another big dog in the yard fighting over the same bone?? Boxing loses in the overall scheme of things.
Not sure where this idea Haymon won't work with some promoters comes from but it isn't based in truth. Haymon doesn't like matching his guys up so he has to work with promoters. Matching his guys is a last resort or he does it in an everybody wins scenario. Promoters refusing to work with him isn't his fault. Just because they are stuck with mob taught methods and he's bringing new revenue streams he can offer fighters better deals. The old guard uses the "you don't have a choice method" and Al uses the "this is their deal, this is what I can offer you" method. Promoters don't want to offer a fair deal or think of new ways to generate money so they don't like Al. But they hurt themselves if they freeze him out.
I'm rather certain Al is just as evil as anyone else making money in the sport but his fighters get a larger percentage of the money they earn. Sometimes Al doesn't even take a cut. That's better than the rest.
I don't even see why Al has to be evil.
Fighters of all races are lined-up around the block to sign with him.
Haymon believes in taking a small amount from a lot of fighters as opposed to raping the shit out of a few.
He looks out for his guys...even if you lose,he still gets you good fights.
Look at Trout.
So seems like that genius cylone posted three posts in a row but I luckily don't have to read em since he's blocked but let me guess it was something like
"racist racist against the black man if haymon was white you all would be kissing his ass and saying how great he is, oh and GGG sucks, garry russell would move up and whip his ass"
Promoters are all the same, remember when GBP came on the scene a few years ago and was going to fix what's wrong with boxing...Haymon must have some extreme business savvy to go from being a sucessful dude in the music world to basically having half the top fighters in his corner...I have to agree with Rant lately he's not making the big ones, nor has he really been known for it hell berto was headlining cards on hbo against volunteer firefighters and kindergarten teachers...
